I have some Cape ones I purchased a year or two ago, sizing seems small compare to other brands and they're VERY short in the ass, the crotch to waist distance is VERY short…

I recommend Icebreaker Oasis Leggings and Long Sleeve top - 200 gsm merino - over these plastic thermals.

At 6-10 times the price, maybe if you wear them regularly, but for just 1-2 times a year, I'm happy with these

I find my merinos last me 10+ years with regular use when needed, and they don't need much washing, so less maintenance. And they don't itch either.

Aldi merino is cheaper (30 to 40 $s) but only available once or twice a year. Always cold in winter without multiple layers; I can't afford heating.

Remember to use a wool wash type detergent or you will suck the lanolin out of the wool, making it feel much less nice.

        You don't need heating :)

Agree. I can't get my head around "breathable polyester". It's an oxymoron.

I bought some silk thermals in Canada 23 years ago (it was -28°C). They're still going strong. Breathable, Super light, easy to pack and wash.

Sometimes it's worth saving money, sometimes it's worth spending it.

Are the Oasis leggings really warm?

  • +3

I'm rocking the free Uniqlo's a year back, mwuhahaa

    • Poly?

      • The tag says: viscose, polyester, acrylic, elastane

They are very thin. I got some when the $30 off voucher was posted here. Glad I did't spend money on them.

    • +2

Aren’t they supposed to be thin and warm?

      • +2

yes, that is correct. similar to the uniqlo heat tech. it does work when you layer it, i get hot. doesn't work if you just wear it by itself.

      • Thin as in see through? Don't think so. I'll try them on a cold day, but have serious doubts they keep me warm.

    Polyester is garbage. Go merino.

    • +6

that's like saying you need a car, just buy a Rolls-Royce. there is nothing wrong with poly, it has a huge price/performance value.

      • +3

Aldi sell merino ones every year. They're good value.

    Can't complain for $10 bucks…

You obviously have not been reading the comments…

      • +1

They have so stop complaining 😀

  • Question, how come I can find thermal tops and pants but can't find thermal socks? As in the same thin material but just socks? Anyone know if the pants are thin enough to wear under womens jeans or worn with a skirt? Currently wear fleece tights.

    • Try thick bamboo socks.

  • Socks need to be much harder wearing to last.
