[Oculus] Free Game - Dogs VR (Was US$29.99) @ Oculus Store

740

A relaxing game where you can play around with your own virtual dog. It is an App Lab game, but their website says there are planning to add more dogs & landscapes.

Description

Play with your own virtual dog in this beautiful open world landscape! This is a serious game that promotes relaxation and brings joy and relief to your stressful day.

We will soon make this dog game even more realistic with hand gestures, voice recognition, more interactions and more beautiful landscapes.

Play this game for 10-15 minutes each day to reap the most benefits! Sitting will reduce motion sickness.

This game has no particular goal, no items to collect and no levels to reach. That is why it is so relaxing. It is just you and your dog in this beautiful open world landscape.

Many families and individuals cannot afford a real dog due to lack of time, space and money. This virtual dog gives you the benefits of a real dog without the hassle. This game might even help people who are afraid of dogs to be more comfortable around dogs.

You can even pick up your doggie’s doo doo! This is what I call realism. And then throw it into the nearest virtual bush

That's exactly what I don't want to do about dog ownership.

Does it turn white if you leave it?

      • +3

I’ll have to get back to you on that… there’s no way to fast-forward

      • Are you using an alt account now jv?

        • Whatever gives you that idea

  • Woah took a look at other apps in app lab and damn it has come a LONG way

  • +2

    FINALLY.

Now when my kids nag me for a puppy, I can just load this up. Thanks!

Are you insane? Judging by the jerkiness in the video, the software looks like prerelease quality. I have a headache after watching the video for 30 seconds - so I can only imagine the negative effect on children who would likely play this for vastly longer periods. That’s not say all VR software is this bad. Best buy a real dog or socialise with friendly ones (and speak to the owner first to find out) at the local park.

Maybe it would stop his kids from asking. That's a win.

In relation to kids usage of VR, only an ignorant or otherwise irresponsible parent or caregiver, would allow anyone under 13 to use a headset, given the plethora of health warning by experts.

Oculus themselves warn against usage for under 13s.

      • Not sure why negged as this is true. It screws up spacial recognition.

For an adult who didn't have vr during brain development it's temporary (as in, you should wait 30 mins before driving) but potentially screws up spacial recognition slightly in a permanent way for kids.

Ps: don't nit-pick the driving comment. People do a lot worse than vr and drive but yes there was a proper study i was reading.

Plenty of studies show no adverse effects e.g.

        https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31377280/

Oculus say 13 because they're covering themselves, and that aligns with the minimum age for a Facebook account.

This would have to be one of the worst looking VR games I have ever seen, if the video is anything to go by.

    • +1

That could only be true if you've literally only seen one VR game before today.

Can't find this app, anyone else having dramas?

Search under 'Store', then click under App Lab and See More. App Lab games are hidden like this

if you replace 'dog' with 'wife' it really takes on a whole new meaning. hope you are listening, applab

    • Ever tried drawing a smiley face on your right palm?

  • Thanks for the description but still no luck. Tried searching on the store (oculus Android app) under Dogs VR and no app labs link available after clicking the 'see more' tab at the end of the search results.

    Weird 😐

    • +1

You need to click "ALL" not "Store". And THEN scroll down. You'll see App Lab as a category after "Add on Content".

  • Followed your directions to the letter but no luck.
After searching for 'Dogs VR' in All, after 'Add on Content' I don't have any app labs link, 'VR Media' is the following category..

    • I can confirm it's there. In the Oculus app, Go to all and search 'dogs vr'. Scroll down and click the lab link. It will then show.

Note: if you search for 'dog vr' it won't show. This is because it's 2022 and fuzzy search isn't yet ready to be deployed outside of Google.

    • Why not just go to the store link in a web browser? https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/4864338667018662/

  • Thanks for everyone's help.
Unfortunately my Oculus App is glitching out as I cannot access any App Labs link.
I've tried countless times and I've accessed app labs previously in a similar fashion but for whatever reason it just won't work.

    • Just do it through a web browser. I never use the app, always connect to their store through the website as it's easier to use that way.

  • +1

    Wow….. Pathetic lol

  • +2

The future of gaming, for now, looks pretty underwhelming lmao

  • I don't need a virtual dog or a real dog to talk to, I'll just continue to talk to myself

  • +2

I'm not a Dog person but went to click on this anyway (Free is free) and the Meta site doesn't show it. The waiting circle just spins, even after refreshing.

    • I'm not a dog person either, and I love free games, and add nearly all free games to the library on the Quest. (And all free games from Xbox Live Gold)

But mark this day as the first day I said, "Ah, no."

You my friend, today you have dodged a bullet.

Anyway, thanks OP for getting the deal to us.

  • Thx OP. This is a great idea; I could totally get into it. I haven't tried it, but if they broaden the breeds, and landscapes, it would be good fun.
