Roblox Type Game for Switch

My 7 year old seems to be more interested in playing Roblox games on my iPad than games on the Switch.
I was a kid once and I get it that parents never really 'get' what kids like when it comes to gaming but it all seems rather mindless, running around, earning coins, spending them on stuff and running around again (we haven't connected his account to his friends so there is no social aspect to it).

Are there any similar games to Roblox for the Switch that are not freemium (ie no micro transactions or need to 'top up' credits), so I can reclaim my iPad and consolidate his gaming on one device (which has a time limit on it)?

He already has Minecraft (which he likes but not as much as Roblox) plus a few Mario games.

  • Lego Worlds, Terraria, Trove (albeit F2P)?

Also, Xbox might be more suitable in the future?

  • +1

Y-yeah, silly kids! Imagine wasting your life doing that…

    • Lol, basically sounds like every game.

      • Y-yeah! Video games! Right, that's what I meant too. Eheh…

        • Re-reading my comment, I get what you mean (it's the 'quest' or strategic bit that I find missing with Roblox). Anyway, I start to sound like my dad… But, my aim is not to get him to stop gaming, I just would like him to play better quality games, on his own device. Or do you guys think that Roblox is 'worth' playing?

          • @bozbargain: Not at all, and I agree with you. I was just cracking a macabre joke about the juxtaposition.

"Silly kid! Running around levelling up in a video game so he can spend most of his time collecting coins to buy cool armour and swords and vehicles and property. Heh, what a meaningless existence! Why doesn't he focus on school so he can get into a good job, where he'll spend most of his life collecting money so he can afford clothes and gadgets and a car and a deposit for a house?"
