Does anyone know if it's possible to get a free trial period (with code) at Rapidshare? Hubby is currently downloading 100 magazines one at a time, so if there's a way to get a free trial before he forks out $10 a month, well and good.

JDownloader definitely - but also check if your ISP has a Static IP or Dynamic IP. If you have a Dynamic IP, great - that means it changes every time you turn your modem off/on. Doing so, in turns means you get to skip the waiting period between downloads (because your computer gets a new IP, they think you're someone else).
Any "magazines" on there that the ladies might like???
What's wrong with woodwork? There are some pretty cool projects in there actually
there's a software called JDownloader which is really good at helping you managing those types of download. It's free so give it a go.
