I came across The Push-Up Challenge last month. Basically the participants are pledged to do 3,139 push-ups over 24 days (1-2 June 2022) as part of fund raising effort to raise awareness of mental health issues & prevent suicide. The money raised will be donated to Lifeline or Movember. Why push-ups? I guess healthy body healthy mind — having daily exercise does help to keep your mind away from nasty thoughts.
OzBargain will be doing its annual End of Financial Year charity donations later next month. The charity selection is going to be a bit different this year, and I'll announce it later. Meanwhile I think The Push-Up Challenge is a worthwhile cause and have signed up to do the push-ups. 3,139 push-ups over 24 days is only 131 push-ups a day (or 150 a day, if resting every Sunday), which can be spread over the waking hours. Moreover, push-ups can also be substituted with squats or sit-ups.
So I ended up creating a team for OzBargain — if you are interested to participate and fund-raise for mental health awareness as well, feel free to join!
For those who rather donate to OzBargain and not see the ads here, you can now donate to Team OzBargain and turn off ads in your profile settings. I am hoping to raise some from the community, in addition to the donations we are planning to do for EoFY 2022.
Do note that a "team" can have maximum 10 members. If we do have more than 10 people wanting to participate, we can create a "community" covering multiple teams.
I started training for this last week. I managed to do 100 the first day. The second and 3rd day I was kinda stuffed with sore arms and chest. 4th day I did 60. Today I did 80. The night is still young, or maybe I should just donate instead. :)
