is this better than dumbledore's fenix?

    • +13

Nope. JB Hifi voluntary warranty only goes for 2 years. Outside of that, there is no rebirth of this fire-breathing beast once it carks it.

      • LOL.

Great price. Nearly bought one a few weeks ago at $849 …. then a week later at $809 ….. at $629 I couldn't resist! Thanks OP :)

Combine it with the gift card 10% off through click frenzy and get it down to about $566 total price. https://clickfrenzy.com.au/outgoing/deal/e11aa133-58ec-4370-…

Sadly I need the 6 or 6S model my wrists can’t pull of the 6X. Fingers crossed for them to be on sale shortly.

    • Legend, thanks for this!

    • Great suggestion thanks for this!

    • Was about to get a second hand Fenix 6 Saphire just to use for long runs and broadcast HR to garmin headunit, but this deal is too good to pass.
Picked one up for $566, bargain - thanks!

    • Thanks for this.
I've never purchased a voucher through clickfrenzy.com.au before, are they legitimate?
Also, once I've purchased the $500 gift card do they email a virtual gift card which I can then enter into jbhifi website checkout today?

      • Awesome price
was holding out for the Forerunner 955…..due for release shortly
        but this is tempting

        • +1

Since the 945 was $999rrp and is now $699 on sale I'd think the 955 with be over $1k, making the 6S and pretty nice deal.

          • @discountguy: $799 for the the 955 non solar

            • @Numpty21: even at that price, doesn't that still make the 6x Sapphire at $629 look very very good?

              • @discountguy: A great price if you have big enough wrists for the 6X, but most people don't

  • +1

Great watch, really heavy duty, only needs to be charged every two weeks. Had mine a year and don't regret it at all.

  • +3

Great deal but holding out for a deal on the 7X. The flashlight feature would be so useful.. my Fenix 5 still goes strong with over a week battery life.
    Great watches!

  • Aside from the solar charging are there any differences between this and the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar?

    • +4

The solar on the 6x Solar is mediocre.

Hell even the solar on my 7x is.

This is a good price if youre after a solid watch

      • I'll take solar over no solar though
The battery life figures are impressive

        • +3

a bit gimmicky on the 6, more useful on the 7

        • +3

The glass on the solar is not sapphire and will scratch more easily. Further you cannot put a protector over it as it will disrupt the sun suck (Solar charge)

I can tell you that the Solar on 6x doesnt justify the price.

I would have scratch resistance rather solar

@newti: great info! I'm looking at upgrading my 5! This X is a bit big for me so I might just wait a bit for some lower prices on the 7 sapphire and give solar a miss.

Out of curiosity, if you left yours in sun for an hour how much charge would it get? Have a couple of plans do do some extended remote trips. Will probably end up taking a solar charger but have been wondering whether this could be self sufficient using gps daily and self charging at end of day!

            • +2

@slipperypete: Keep in mind you cannot get a 7 Sapphire without solar, which sucks. I got a 7 Solar Sapphire, but was after the Sapphire glass, not really solar. I do not see any gain to performance unless you spend 1 or 2 hours in direct sunlight each day, then you might get an extra half day battery added on to the 12 days I already get.

  • Amazon pricematched (before the Frenzy code though) https://www.amazon.com.au/Garmin-010-02157-12-fenix-Sapphire…

    Amazing price.

Here is my points from before:

    Reason to buy this:
Want to flex on your mates who have the standard 6x? Get the 6x Sapphire
You don't like the Garmin Fenix 6 because its too small? Get the 6x Sapphire
You like big phat watches that can break your wrist? Get the 6x Sapphire
Cant wait for the 7x? Get the 6x Sapphire
Like wierd prices like $629.10? Get the 6x Sapphire
Want to look like you're in the military but you aren't? Get the 6x Sapphire

I have the Fenix 7x and love it…

.. However im now homeless and kidney-less

(Least I have a watch that has a white and red flashlight?)

  • Been waiting for this watch have a drop in price.
Click and collect in the morning

  • He's a big boi

Sapphire solar fenix 7 for me when it finally goes on sale

  • The 92FRENZY code works for the Epix Gen 2 Sapphire also. Down to $1349.10 ($150 off from $1499). I wanted a replacement for my damaged Fenix5 and prices of the Epix 2 have been stuck on the RRP since release.

  • Have this watch myself. Works really well on the MTB.

  • Thank you, bit the bullet with this this morning. I have been tempted by the new Fenix 7 (currently have an old Galaxy 3) but couldn't really justify the $1000+ price tag when it will mostly be used for basic running, hiking and cycling. I'm a little disappointed that this doesn't have a touch screen and some of the other new Fenix features, but thinking about it I rarely use the touch on my Galaxy watch, mostly the rotating bezel and the buttons. I think I will miss the bezel the most tbh, but this will be a welcome upgrade for better sports integration. Plus I just love the classic look of the Fenix, definitely prefer this aesthetic over the Samsung.

    • I love my Fenix 6x, but there's zero chance I'd buy it full price. It seems to be one of those inflated RRP that consistently has 1/2 price sales. I got mine 1/2 price a year ago.

How do you think this will compare against the Amazfit T-Rex 2 that's just about to launch? https://www.androidcentral.com/wearables/amazfit-t-rex-2-lau…

  • +1

I purchased this from amazon warehiuse returns for $550sh 2 months ago, - it meant to be box damaged only. i said yeah whatever worst case I'd return it.
box wasnt damaged and it was still sitting with the protective film, battery was flat but battery life is not effected.
Then girlfriend got jealous (and she did not find it way too big on her wrist) so we got another one as bday gift, same story.

One thing I recommend is turning of the spo2 monitor, kinda useless to me and turning off doubles up the battery life

really good deal but soooo big. Kind of only wear it for activities unless you like to make an "I'm an athlete impression"

  • My Whoop subscription is about to run out, main thing I use it for is sleep tracking. Anyone know how the sleep tracking on this compares to Whoop? Also, I do jiu jitsu, whoop has an armband you can use to track HR while grappling, does Garmin have any way to wear it while grappling? I guess it's back to chest strap, which is annoying…

    • I mean, if the armband is ANT+ or BT, surely you can just pair it with the watch?

      • Nah with Whoop you can kind take the device off the watchband and put it inside the armband

  • will wait till 7X to reduce by half price and usually it's around sep.

    • What's the main differences between the 6X & 7X? Was looking througth the Garmin catalogue and god do they make it difficult to cmpare features and pricing, so many variants of the same bloody watch.

      • +1

It seems the main difference is the 7 series now comes with a touch screen, as well as some sensor upgrades, better map accuracy, and longer battery life. The 7X (only) comes with a light/torch integrated. The software has a few extra features, main ones being you can now change the watch faces from the app instead of only being able to do it in the watch, and a "real-time stamina" tracker. I'm sure there are plenty of smaller changes but those are the biggest upgrades that I could find from my research. The extras on the 7 doesn't really warrant the extra cost for me personally.

        • Thanks mate, the torch and touch screen would be worth paying an extra couple hundred to me so will hold off for a sale on the newer model.
