Is this lens good for wide angle?
Simply put - and it is 'simply' - this is the closest equivalent of a 50mm lens on a full frame camera, and is neither wide angle nor zoom, being the closest approximation of what the naked eye can see when you shoot a frame.
I'm soooo tempted, but I've got the 1.8 50D so can't justify it.

While I don't think I paid the $679 RRP, I'm pretty sure I paid more than $178
Plus with the Sigma lens, I had to buy a dock for it so I could update the firmware on it so it would not be rejected by my updated Nikon body.

I was kicking myself that I missed this deal, but thought I'd call my local HN to see if they would still honour this price, to be told that the lens is now $148. Unfortunately as it is in runout you won't find it on their website and my local store said they weren't keen on shipping it from a store with stock as their couriers are unreliable (!) I called the JB price match number and they did it for $166 delivered.
