Mesh Wi-Fi Rec's for Rural NBN Fixed Wireless Home. Deco x20 vs x50 x68

We get download speeds of max like 2-4mbps. Is it even worth getting the higher end mesh wifi's?

We currently have 2 point Google nest system, but I want to side/upgrade to one with ethernet ports on all the bases. This system currently does not reach the far end of the house. We have alot of devices connected - 2 WFH office computers, 2 personal computers. Others like phones, smart devices.

I'd like good speeds for the occasional online gaming, and for Airlink wireless VR.

Looking at Deco x20, x50, x68. We will likely run an ethernet cable, to at least the first mesh point

tl;dr
I can currently get a 3 pack of X20 for $303. Is the x50 or x68 THAT much better? I was going to wait for a better deal on those, as they've been on sale for <$400 recently.

Cheers

  • I have the X20s… We bought them when we moved into the new house and initially I wasn't sure if they would do the job but I can say with all honesty that since getting them wifi coverage is just one of those things I haven't had to worry about - for me there's no desire for anything more. The only issue I have with the system is that it is really only configurable by an app (with some shortcomings if you're a power user).

  • If you get 2-4Mbps directly from the NBN access point, you won't get higher speed even with an improved mesh system. If you want to improve reach, sure the mesh system can help.

If you do live an low density resential area, any of mesh systems in your list will offer you similar coverage.

    For internet downloads etc…..No

    For 'internal' file transfers etc….Yes
