OSHC Essential Policy Help

Dear Members.

Need Genuine advice and if possible help.

My Friend Is here on a Student Visa currently studying in Adelaide at one of the universities. His starting Intake date is 30 May. His Partner is Pregnant ( 5 months) already and they are after an Essential OSHC Policy which doesn't have any waiting period. Here is anyone, who can help or give us the best option/advise what he can do? he has bought a Standard OSHC policy with Allianz but someone told him he will get an essential policy, then everything will be covered from the first day.

he contacted Allianz, who advised him to contact the University. But University said to contact the Agent but he is not helpful and said there is no such thing.

he has checked and confirmed, and Yes there is such thing called Allianz essential OSHC policy.

Is there anyone who knows about it, can help him, or any other option?

At last, if nothing comes out, He may have to send his partner back to his home country for delivery.

Need the best advice here or help.
He is desperate.

    You can call and ask what below means for your friend.

    His Partner is Pregnant ( 5 months) already

    There is a waiting period for pre-existing conditions
    You cannot claim for costs arising during the waiting period if such costs arise from a pre-existing condition (other than a pre-existing condition of a psychiatric nature).
    The waiting period is calculated as 12 months commencing from:
    - the date you or your dependant (as the case may be) arrived in Australia; or
    - the date your Student Visa was granted, whichever is the later date.

    He may have to send his partner back to his home country for delivery.

    Maybe should have checked, when it was more than 5 months ago…

      Thanks for the input. He came on Visitor Visa only last month and suddenly decided to study her. He tried his luck so got a Student visa. That is why it was not planned here. It was all planned in home country

    No insurance will cover for pre-existing conditions without a waiting period, otherwise people would just sign up on the drive to the hospital and cancel on the way out.
