I love how we are now in a place where you pay for a subscription to then pay for content that comes with your paid subscription

These are include with Prime. Bezos famously bought MGM for 12 billion dollars recently.

      • Hasn't mgm been on the brink of bankruptcy for decades?

        • +5

They must be laughing when Bezo brought them.

          • +4

@dbmitch: It makes sense that $12B is insane value for MGM by itself, but in the streaming landscape still makes sense.

What I can't believe is that with Microsoft and Sony paying out the nose for studios, Square Enix just sold 50 IP's including Tomb Raider & some studios for a mere US$300M.

            • -1

@Jimbuscus: Yeah there is a reason nobody bought square enix.

              • @RI4V4N: Square Enix where complaining about only selling 6M copies of one their 3 game trilogy Tomb Raider. It's a strong IP and should have gotten more than $300M on its own.

                • @Jimbuscus: Why are you boys so hurt by thr sale? You guys complaining square bad for selling like you secretly love square and want them to keep.

          • +3

@dbmitch: There is something Bezos knows that we don't. While he is making 12B deals we are here hunting for bargains.

    • Similar to Foxtel, if I recall correctly.

  • +1

    Err, dupe?

  • +1

So what is the deal here? Amazon Prime sub discounted or something?

    • +1

Instead of paying extra money you get it without paying extra money, pretty good deal

      • So is for every single movie available on prime or Netflix or Disney or so.

        • +1

Most were always available without needing to pay extra on top of the sub…

  • +23

Now that's some bargain Pu$$y Galore.

    • +6

Gezuz. That scene where he follows Ms Galore to the barn and slaps her down to the ground before pinning her as she crys no ……. some movies just don't date well.

      • +17

It’s James Bond, she wanted it

        • Woman’s prerogative to change mind (… anytime).

      • Not sure which scene and which bond movie you on about….

        • +6

Think that's bad. Nevermind the character, what's the actors opinion?

          • +1

@seamonkey: Is that the interview he did where he says sometimes a woman needs to be hit ….. I don't like to judge past attitudes by today's standards but I feel some ethical choices would be timeless. Shows how much we can change in such a short time.

          • @seamonkey: Shit me… That's crazy.

I assumed Octopussy, but I looked it up and (profanity) Galore is from Goldfinger. I’ve seen a few Bond films but neither of those.

Edit: okay now I understand why dollar signs were used earlier.

          • @Shenannigoat:

I understand why dollar signs were used earlier.

Now, come, come, Mr. Bond. You disappoint me. You get as much fulfillment out of bargains as I do.

    • Well….. Mr Bond gets it all free. Aston Martin, Omega Watch….. bargain

    • +19

      username checksout.

      • +1

Good spot. I guess yours checks out to, seemonkey.

    • +2

Amazon may as well delete it if you've already seen it.

  • +6

I actually think prime is the only service you should have and worth the normal price due to having access to Amazon shopping

    • +6

And free music, games, e books.

    • +1

The menu system for Prime is atrocious. No, it's worse. And a crap tonne of content, including old stuff, requires you to rent the movie on top of the subscription. You literally have to click into the movie to find out the additional fee and sometimes I can click ten rentals before finding something decent. I just canceled my renewal. I'll pay a monthy fee if I find a deal on Amazon shopping.

      • It has the first tab along the top ‘free for me’…

        • -1

I do not have the 'free for me' tab on my Prime app on my Vodafone TV.

          • @ilikeit: Prime app wasn’t available on my Vodafone tv so I bought a $24 fire stick. Don’t know how you have installed it

      • -1

unsure what you have been doing but amazon does have a rental system but most movies are free to watch on prime, they have a better selection than Netflix plus they also get new releases if you want to pay for it.
It's like a all in one, quite awesome if you ask me

        • +1

Let's not get carried away. A lot of western countries have dumped on netflix recently but there's no comparison between prime and netflix. Netflix offer so much more than what prime has. If it wasn't for the shipping I wouldn't even get prime video

        • I know most movies are 'free' on Prime, but there is a dearth of newer movies (I'm not talking latest here) that are free. A lot of old releases are rentals. It's just always disappointing for me, and my wife shares the same sentiment. Who has the better catalogue, Netflix or Prime, is objective, but for me it's Netflix hands-down, hence my cancellation.

    • I buy enough Amazon to make it worth whole. Prime videos is a nice bonus

  • Wow thats really good. Finally Prime has the good stuff from MGM takeover

  • +2

Thanks even has the original Casino Royale

    • +3

      And isn’t that a poor movie…

      • +3

        Yes, it is.

      • It stinks

      • All the ones after QoS were poor.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I've always been curious about Timothy Dalton's run of Bond. 90s kid.

    • +5

I think he is one of the best Bonds. His movies were great.
Still Bond like (unlike the new Bond movies) but a little grittier.

      • +7

I think Dalton was the closest to the literary Bond (and my second favorite Bond actor), but Roger Moore has got to be #1. The stories, the girls, the insanely inappropriate innuendo. Sean Connery so overrated as Bond. George Lazenby.. well, the less said about that the better :D And anything after Dalton not really Bond anyway, as they'd already run out of stories and started making them up or re-hashing them.

        • +5

I am the same, Moore the best (prob cos I was a teen during his time), Connery, too old and boring.
Worse would be the current Bond. Ok movies but not Bond.

          • @PVA: Funnily enough Moore was way older than Connery, but Connery's acting certainly made him seem much older than he really was.

I agree the modern "Bond" movies are OK as stand alone action movies, but they're not really Bond.

        • -2

Roger Moore was not a good Bond. I give you: moonraker and view to a kill.

          • +3

@entropysbane: Perhaps Grace Jones is more woman than you can handle?

            • @dcash: While I am quite willing to admit I would be very intimidated, Grace Jones was the best and only redeeming bit of View to a Kill.

A clear contrast to Tanya Roberts’ useless and endless fearful repetitions of the only line she seemed to remember: “James!”, “Jaaames!”, “Jaaaames!”

      • I think a lot of reaction to gritty and more aligned with the novels Dalton is that people had gotten used to the campiness of Moore’s Bond. I welcomed the new Bond at the time.
Watch old Connery and they were more Dalton than Moore.

As for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, the story was pretty good (and Diana Rigg!!), it was just Lazenby wasn’t Connery, in the way a block of wood isn’t either. When Countess Teresa turned up at the skating rink in front of frozen Bond summed up what was good and bad in the whole movie in one scene.

        • Yes, Connery certainly more Dalton than Moore, and while there was nothing wrong with the majority of the Connery Bond's, they're just not my favourites.

OHMSS didn't really bother me. Personally I'd rate it on par with Connery's efforts.

Modern "Bond" flicks are too dark for my liking.

        • Diana's Rigg?

      • +1

Dalton was a great Bond. Movie scrips were more tame and thriller-like. That's why he wasn't popular. Less gadgets and the plot more realistic

  • Any other good MGM stuff added, or only Bond?

  • +1

    i love octopussy.
having more then one is best.

    • Me too. One of the best Moore ones.

      • Except we had a geriatric getting it on with a bunch of babes.

  • +3

Some of the special efforts are so fake, it's hilarious, but still enjoyable to watch.

    • +6

it was more funny when Roger Moore wasn't available for a scene ( in the spy who loved me) and they used a card board cutout of him as a stand-in

    • I never knew - this is fantastic

  • +2

So this just moved across from Stan? Must be a slow day for bargains!

    • Stan didn’t have the latest movie.

      • Hasn’t that one been on there for a while? Either way it’s a good thing. The streaming rate on Stan is awful and the quality would drop out regularly

        • +1

Not the movie that was in cinemas recently. Amazon (and I assume others) had it to stream for $20-30 or so. I was looking at Stan weeks ago and it wasn’t there, I was watching some of the other 007 movies though.

  • +6

I wonder how the politically correct, feminist crowd feel watching the early bond movies, where he literally uses, sleeps with, slaps and abandon's women and then just moves on like a boss.

    • +7

      They’ll be cancelled eventually.

      • Which is why for many things nothing beats a physical or at least locally stored copy!

Can't be cancelled. Can't be "George Lucas Special Edition'd", etc …

    • Thunderball has quite a few of those moments. And goldfinger.

  • Funny looking pr0n

  • I am reminded of a recent Louis CK joke about a little man inside someone's butt that turns around with a gun. Like the little guy from the man with the golden gun.

  • +1

I always forget that I have Prime Video…

  • +1

    BOND…James BOND

  • +3

    Free with Prime.

    so not free?

    • Prime Video had to type of access accounts. The free (with Amazon prime) and an upgraded video subscription with more content. These films are in the former. So pretty good

  • +5

“Be a gentleman and bring me something to wear”

    passes shoes

  • +1

    I've been here before
    But always missed the deal
    I've spent a lifetime bargaining
    But they always get away
But with this post I'm feeling something
That makes me want to stay :P

  • Time to retire bond for a while

  • +1

Nice addition. These were on Stan for a while. Took them off Stan when latest bond film came out. If Amazon really wants to boost their local subs they should take the AFL from Foxtel and still charge the usual prime fees. Add sports and it will be a win for them and a win for customers getting access at a lower monthly price. Would finally give people a reason to ditch the foxtel and Kayo monopoly for good!

    • +2

      Replace one monopoly with another?
