wow, a WIRELESS FM radio, what will they think of next, lol

    • +1

Indeed. They were actually called 'wirelesses' long before 'radios'. I don't think my 86 yo mother has once said the word radio.

    Description says -

    7 Built-in rechargeable module

    Picture says -

    Battery excluded!!

From the images it looks like it uses a LiPo, a big no no on aircraft these days so I assume that's why it's excluded now…

It doesn't appear to be a bargain anyway by the time you add shipping.

You can buy similar on Aliexpress for around the same price. For example this one takes 2 x AA

        • I think the idea is for it to be an educational kit for kids build or such, but the lack of a battery makes it useless, it's not like small LiPo's are cheap or easy to get locally…

They should probably modify to kit to take an easy to get 14400 or 18650 Li-Ion or the likes…

@FLICKIT: I linked to a DIY kit as well. It's cheaper on eBay - $19.79 del.

            • @WatchNerd: Sorry, I only glanced at it and thought it was just a pre-built radio, my bad…

              • +1

@FLICKIT: It's been 1 hour since my first comment & the Rep has replied to clear up whether or not it comes with the rechargeable battery. This will add more cost to get it working so I will have to neg to alert members.

Also my link above (eBay) shows a similar DIY kit for less that takes 2 x AA batteries which everyone has lying around.

Edit - The description has been changed. The rechargeable battery is excluded. Most likely it was hard wired. Would be great if the Rep could reply?

          • @FLICKIT: Thank you for your suggestion.

      • Yes, you are right…It's easily to be returned by the shipping company or be fined for any products with this sort of batteries

    • Sorry for the late response due to the coming weekend holiday.
The module itself with the built in rechargeable circuit, for the LiPo battery.
(we can not ship battery, so battery was excluded)
If customer have the 3.7V LiPo Battery, they can charge for it by the built in rechargeable circuit.

Commenting so I can neg. Not a bargain. @WatchNerd did better sleuthing than I did on this one.

    ICStation really should give up.

  • +1

Comparable product cheaper elsewhere… Not a bargain

  • +1

Adding my neg due to the Rep editing the "ad" but not replying… .. .

  • +2

    Cheaper elsewhere.

Reselling aliexpress stuff in USD is a bit silly.

  • +2

As per @WatchNerd expert detective work yet again , will neg as cheaper elsewhere, incomplete /inaccurate listing and zero rep interaction.

    As per ozbargain rep guidelines

It is recommended that reps respond to comments and reasonable enquiries about their deal, product or service. To assist with this, reps are automatically subscribed their deal posts.

Would hate to see how much effort it would be if you ever needed help on an issue with this mob.

    • Sorry for the inconvenience caused. As there is quite few comment before, we did not notice this and then forget to check the deals in the coming weekend holiday. We will modify and make the description more clear.

  • +2

Was going to say the same as other commenters have already said here. There are better and nicer kits out there for cheaper that dont require LiPo/LiIo type batteries to operate on. As for "soldering practice kits", there would be a wealth of other options out there that would do a mcuh better job of teaching you to solder. ie: prototype perf boards and a box of resistors.

  • +1

there is no mention of whether it was hard wired or if you can use a regular battery.

cheaper alternatives that takes bog standard 2 x AA.

    • Sorry, no, it was hard wired. And can not use a regular battery. The picture marked 3.7V LiPo Battery was required.

  • Why so quiet rep? Answer the question.

  • Commenting to neg pet Watchnerds sleuthing.
