Hyundai Extended Car Warranty

Buying a new car for partner and I from hyundai. Once we signed we went into the room for all the additional stuff like protection tint etc…

The one i was curious on was the 3 year extended warranty for a few thousand extra.

In my eyes all these things are scams and I was wondering has anyone bought extended warranties at the dealerships and is it legit or some jumping hoop scam.

I'd go with the Standard Included Warranty or just buy a Kia.

(I prefer the Bouncy Castle to the Jumping Hoop).

    Dealership or factory extended warranty?

  • yeah, nah. It's not worth the paper it is printed on. There will be stupid caveats on it that make it virtually worthless. They basically make their money back on services that are not required (like every 5,000km/6 months) and if you even go 1 day over or 1 km over, the "extended warranty" is voided. If you dont service it with that dealer, it's voided.

The list of exclusions is longer than your arm and usually there is a "co-payment/excess" involved that is just about the cost of the repair and there will be maximum claim amounts for large items. So, for example, an engine may only have $4,000 claim allowance, but a blown engine might be $14,000 to replace.

If it's a third party warranty it's not worth the paper it's written on.

    Don't waste your money OP.

  • dont think it was manufacturers warranty but he sold it like it was, and like it will cover any electronic issues like stop start costs couple of grand to fix bla bla bla.

    • ignore the dealership extended warranty. if its from the manufacturer then its worth considering it!

It’s an insurance policy with lots of clauses. A big turn off is usually that you have to have it serviced at a specific dealer (or network). Will also have lots of exclusions.

Having said that, it paid off for us for one second hand vehicle that needed the heads reconditioned. But that was before I knew better and won’t be buying again.

  • Doesn't Hyundai already offer 5yr unlimited Km warranty on all new cars?
OP don't fall for these extended warranties from 3rd parties no matter how much they try to dress them up as official or factory backed warranties. Once I too got sucked into one of those but luckily realised my mistake after reading the fine print few times top to bottom as there was hardly any cover once you consider the long list of exclusions and conditions. Cancelled straightaway during the cooling off period and got my money back so never again.

The 'extended' 8 year warranty that Kia essentially throws in for free?

    Should've gone with a Kia

Don't get that stuff. If you want that, go to Tint A Car. They are cheaper for pretty much the same stuff.
