I just bought a refurbished monitor. I don't have much experience with refurbs in general. Is there anything to look out for whilst I still have a 30 day return and 1 year warranty?
It's a MSI UWQHD 165hz VA

All fine and dandy, but what does the warranty say about dead pixels OP?
Unsure if it's covered under warranty but it would be covered under the 30 day defect period.
What's covered under this defect period?
@oscargamer: I got it from ebay, so it would be whatever ebay's refurbished terms are for monitors.
Shouldnt you have asked this info before buying it?
I guess OP is more wondering what tests he/she can run to ensure it's all working properly before the end of the return and warranty period.
Spotted a bargain and didn't have the time. Not too stressed since I have a 30 day return period for any defects.
No. You have 30 days to return it for defects that are covered under their policy. It definitely won't be all defects (like a single pixel that's dead)
I got it from ebay, so it would be whatever ebay's refurbished terms are for monitors. 1 single dead pixel I would translate as "item not as described". Although can't be sure it's covered, I would assume it would.
@Big Lez: It would not be. Manufacturers don't even warranty that.
So….. I'm not going to go and look, so what is a defect defined as?
@oscargamer: Steering off-topic here, but I've checked the item again and it's listed as "Certified Refurbished"
Certified Refurbished - The seller certifies that the item is in a like-new condition and that it has been inspected, cleaned, and refurbished by the manufacturer or a manufacturer-approved vendor to meet manufacturer specifications. The product will be in new packaging with original or new accessories. See the seller's listing for full details.
The seller's listing doesn't have any more details than that, meaning all the buyer has to go by is that statement to describe the item's condition.
What I conclude from the above is I would not expect a dead pixel. What would seller be happy and willing to challenge a return for a single dead pixel? Probably.. But the fact remains I would reasonably not expect a dead pixel from a certified refurbished product given the above description and we all know eBay love the buyer more than the seller. So my bets are getting a refund If a dead pixel is identified.
The following link has a table describing the different classifications of a refurb product listed on eBay:
@Big Lez: It would be fair to say that you should expect the monitor to be as new and the same warranty terms should apply.
You might want to check the MSI warranty website, but MSI do not have a zero pixel defect warranty. Bright dots>3 and/or dark dots>5.
