Are Hisense Fridges Long Lasting or Not?

I've been thinking about getting a Hisense HR6TFF459 or HRTF424. I believe they are basically the same fridge as the inside looks the same and there is only 2L difference between them.

The one thing I am worried about is longevity. I haven't heard many good reviews about this brand. I know they do OEM but that's about it.

The main reason for choosing Hisense is that none of the fridges I've been able to look at recently have a proper removeable ice tray. The westinghouse 431L for example has parts of the ice tray holder that remain, e.g. two plastic bars pointing downwards…

Hopefully someone knows if these Hisense fridges are any good.

have a proper removeable ice tray.

    Buy some $2.00 ice trays

    • Sounds like they want the freezer completely empty, not having parts of the ice tray holder remaining.

      • Yeah, I'm not sure if we are allowed to destroy it. Do you think that will void the warranty? Maybe if I get something in writing from Westinghouse…

It's going to be a problem isn't it?

I doubt it will void the warranty, it's just plastic. Isn't the warranty for things like the motor and defects?

Have you seen it in person, it's definitely fixed in place? Are you sure you can't pull it out or unscrew it somehow? There's usually not any screws in a freezer though.

Eg in my freezer the ice cube holder can be pulled out if you tug at it on the correct angle, it just sits in grooves. Mine is has an automated ice cube dispenser.

      • OP: Why?

        • Probably needs to fit large items in there and the the ice cube holder gets in the way.

@John Kimble: Buy a small chest freezer… Love mine.

@pharkurnell: Hmm. I might have to go with this method to play it safe. I've got some spare room in the garage.

  • If you want longevity then download the manual and see what the warranty is and then based on the price the ACL may cover extra time or not. If the warranty and ACL are not long enough then buy the extended warranty after reading it's conditions.

Most consumer goods are no longer designed or manufactured to last for ages like they used to as people want cheap things and as such the products are designed to last as a minimum the warranty period.

Hmm nah I wouldn't trust them. My gf had one only a few years old and it just died. They aren't worth fixing so straight to landfill. A sad reflection on society really.

When I looked a few years ago Westinghouse had the best warranty.

  • The westinghouse 431L for example has parts of the ice tray holder that remain,

Are you sure? The photos online suggest not.

    • Yeah I went to Bing Lee to take a look at the models.

There are two large thin white pieces of plastic that remain after the ice tray is removed.

LG is another one where there are parts of the ice tray remaining. I can't remember the model number though, but it's around the 400-450L mark. (I believe it's this model GT-442SDC)

I bought the westinghouse fridge yesterday and it was delivered today. It turns out the whole ice tray can come out if you tug at a certain angle… lol.

        I'm happy now.
