Owned a Snap and upgraded to the Kickr V4. I haven't used a Core, but I can assure you that based purely on my experience going from the Snap to the V4, it's 100% worth going to a direct drive.
I would recommend direct drive over wheel-on any day.
I've been using the Core and have tested the Kickr v4 (w/o Axis stands). I feel the Kickr to be a little smoother and quieter than the Core, but for the price sensitive.. it's good enough and I could not justify the big jump in price. I've done about 15k KM over the 2 1/2 years I've had my Core, no issues with it. I do recommend getting a (dumb) swivel riser block too.
Managed to get mine for about $950.
ok price for the lower tiers since the discount percentage gets less as you go up.
Worthwhile waiting for Pushy's regular 15% off sales.
does anyone know if the Tacx trainers are available on the AIA vitality garmin site?
Yep, ordered one a couple of months ago with no issues.
What kind of discount does this get you?
30% apparently
25% off selected products, but I believe it covered all Tacx trainers (at the time).
Would love one of these, but still a little pricey. Most reviews suggest the core is worth the price jump, though.
