The warranty on a Gigabyte warranty has 4 years
The original GPU was purchased 8 June 2017 from PC Case Gear
It was then RMA 25/10/2019 (no Display and replaced)
I'm finding now that some games aren't working unless I put it in Debug mode (which I believe slows the manufacture clock to stock Nvidia GPU)
I thought it was maybe drivers or my PC so I just lived with it, but now in a completely new build (nothing carried over except for the GPU) and its got the same issue
I did see other posts but from https://www.theguardian.com/money/2002/oct/18/consumernews.c… it appears we need to distinguish between warranty and guarantee?
ie A guarantee is a promise to make good problems that arise with goods and services in a set time limit, usually 12 months.
No matter how many repairs or replacements you receive in relation to an original product, that time limit still stands - so the replacement product would only be under guarantee for whatever time period was still remaining from the original guarantee.
Apparently a warranty is different. Note I actually have a certificate from Aorus care stating - your registered product is not covered by Aorus care extended warranty
Has anyone been successful in getting an RMA based on the replaced item? Or should I just cut my losses given its 5 years on the original (but under 3 years on the replacement?)
TLDR - does the 4 year warranty (not guarantee) start and end from the original purchase, or does the replacement card start the clock again?
Your original purchase warranty of 4 years is the complete warranty for that item. It does not restart if the item is replaced under warranty.
