Is the speakers active ?
What would be better for a basic TV set-up, with a $200 budget. Something like the Denon-S216 or RT 1700BT?
Definitely this, but I'd personally get a $100 used receiver with bare minimum HDMI ARC support, and then go for a 3 channel setup. You could easily get a set of Wharfedales that'd probably sound better than the 1700BT for the purpose.
This advice isn't Void.
I have the s300pro's and while they're great, I don't like using a separate remote for volume, granted I typically use the Google TV and connect them via Bluetooth so it's fine.
But I found some old tannoy m1's and an eARC receiver for 2/3rds the price with greater expandability.
I never understood the idea of passive speakers but if you have the room for 3.1 or 5.1 and a receiver it's worth looking into.
You can also get these $14.90 off with code PMAY10 if you aren't an eBay plus member for a final cost of: $134.10
Are Edifiers the new Eneloops?? I seem to see more posts on these than on batteries these days
