Another 20bux off for new subs to their email list?

    • True that

  • big watch btw

    • wears small. although yes, it's thick

  • +3

    Good watch and wear small.
I have one but different colour and i have small wrist.
Just be careful with this mob, last time i bought watch from them during lockdown, i didn't check properly until 4 month later when i'm about to wear it and the watch have a lot of scratch on the side.
In conclusion, the send me used watch or customer return.
If you are not in hurry, wait for the deal from Starbuy.

      Starbuy guys are solid.

      • can starbuy do a tuna at this price, not fussed on color but don’t own a tuna at this price willing to give it a go.

ring em and price match ?

        • +1

Their website actually has a pricematch option.
It’d obviously need to be the same tuna solar tho.

Pretty sure Watch Depot and Shiels are the same guys.
Their stocks are pretty much display stocks since anyone can come in and try on watches so depending on staff/customers’ handling I wouldn’t call them new stocks anymore.
Concur that Starbuy sell properly new stock (i.e. not “tried-on”, with factory plastics).

      • yep, they are

Although when i ordered my watch, it took a while. So i think they are going through a supplier rather than sending from a store. The state stores had stock.

      • Hi, due to our large range we dont hold all watches in our warehouse and sometimes need to be shipped from our retails stores (Shiels). The pieces that are in our warehouse varies due to sales variances. If you see an item with a 'fast dispatch' green truck, this means it is in our warehouse and will be shipped faster and has not been in a store.

    • Found this to be the case with my srpf81k baby tuna purchase from them - missing original tags and protective stickers (subtituted with bubble wrapping around the watch). Kinda soured the purchase experience but I did get an offer to return the watch to them for inspection by a jeweller… I won't bother though in case it is deemed un-refundable by their policy anyway since it states somewhere along the lines of scratches and so on do not qualify for a refund.

Learning to enjoy the watch nonetheless with its imperfections out of the box since it wears great and just accepting the fact that it will get more nicks anyway. But I concur of checking out Starbuy first for future purchases.

for $229 ordered one …..will report back if used, scratched, tags missing, etc. even display models come with tags. starbuy have great deals and i’ve bought many watches from them but maybe shields / watch depot can ad some. variety to the models and maybe they also adopt a flash sale approach …..

    • thanks garage sale, lets us know of the feedback! We aim to be best price and biggest range every day.

    Ordered yesterday evening, thanks OP.

Just got an email from Seiko AU with an e-guarantee certificate, with watch serial no., case no., etc.

Followed by an email from watch depot with a status update saying watch will be shipped today.

Would this imply Seiko AU is fulfilling the order? Or do retailers send in the details to Seiko and they just send you the guarantee certificate?

    • +1

If I understand it correctly it seems authorised sellers can file for Seiko e-guarantee at purchase (as oposed to filling out physical waranty cards), stock will still be the actual retailers’ on-hand stocks, not from Seiko themselves.

      • Alrighty, thanks.

Guess I'll record the unboxing when it arrives, the comments about display units / scratches has me a bit concerned.

        • I’ve bought from WD/Shiels before and watches never came with tags or original plastic wraps.
I think twice there were micro scratches on the side of the watch case/head (probably from placing it on the side onto hard surfaces). I didnt bother since they were much cheaper with vouchers and before Starbuy started price matching.
Off topic but one time I’ve tried on a premium (3-4k+) Prospex in another shop (not Shiels) and there was a massive ding on the size of the case. I feel for whoever will be buying that ‘brand new’ watch.
Star Buy has been stellar through and through.

      • Zonra, you are correct

    • we fill in the guarantee with Seiko Austria on purchase and they issue the email confirmation. All orders are fulfulled by our staff in Adelaide

Can you address the comments above about used stock being sold as new?

        • +1

as per above, due to our large range we dont hold all watches in our warehouse and sometimes need to be shipped from our retails stores (Shiels) (returned to our fulfilment centre and then shipped to the customer). The pieces that are in our warehouse varies due to sales variances. If you see an item with a 'fast dispatch' green truck, this means it is in our warehouse and will be shipped faster and has not been in a store (unless the sales qty on the day exceed the warehouse stock)
Stock is absolutely not 'used' but could have been displayed in our retail stores before being shipped to the customer - in that case the protective plastic has been removed to display in store.

          • @Mike-f: Thanks for the clarification

How is their money back guarantee work? Do I have to pay for postage to send it back?

    • They emailed me a free shipping label. But I've decided not to worry about my purchase since I purchased it on clearance and was likely a display watch at a Shiels brick and mortar store. I'll likely add more scratches to it but I would've preferred it be my own doing to begin with.

But for anyone curious here are some photos of the watch out of the box - https://imgur.com/a/VsxRqXS

      • wtf that's quite a chunk off the shroud. personally, i'd return it…there are enough issues with seiko's alignment without having to contend with careless retailers. but of course, it's up to you.

        • +1

Yeah I felt the same after initially seeing that chip off the shroud - but reflected, then made peace with it since it's not very obvious at a distance.
Funnily enough the bezel actually lines up perfectly.

Just thought of sharing my experience for others awareness.

haha…on the one watch that's aligned, it cops a chip. life is so cruel

Just an update in case anyone following this.

Received the watch today, has the tag and protective sticker at the back. Seems new so all good.

The serial matched the one on the guarantee certificate but the barcode and calibre case no. are different, have reached out to Seiko regarding this.

    Beautiful watch btw.

Glad to hear you got a perfectly intact new model.

It must be watches they sell with a low stock count or on clearance where there's a higher chance of getting a store display model that's seen some rough handling.

      • Yup, must be it.

They shouldn't be selling display units as new, even if the watches are on clearance. Just be upfront about the condition.
