Was looking at flights to Bali, Thailand and other Asian countries. Astonishing to see flights to Phuket and other Thai cities are cheaper than Sydney in some airlines. I was curious to understand why is that ?
Why Is It Cheap to Fly to Thailand Compared to Other Asian Countries?

No better way to say it: Bogans!
Garn to fckin Bali maaate, cheap beers eh.
You might be seeing Jetstar fares to Thailand which are currently on sale only until Tuesday for selected dates.
Historically Singapore is usually the cheapest. It still is depending on dates.
I can see Singapore form my house.
Do you live in Malaysia?
Supply and demand; people a still scared to fly overseas in discount economy. There is a lot spare capacity at non peak times.
Asia is closer to Australia than it looks on a flat map, Perth is closer to Bali than it is to Sydney.
The price you see advertised is the base fare on random low demand days, when people fly overseas they add more extras, luggage meals seat selection insurance legroom etcBecause they are budget airlines where you have to pay for any extras….pretty simple.
Try flying Thai/Qantas/Singapore to Thailand and flights won't be as cheap.
frequency and demand
Two words.. S##t Holes.
Depressing to see the streets of where I normally go in Thailand being absolutely gutted and empty because of COVID. Reminds me of post tsunami Thailand without all the damage.
they extorted tourists for too long
had it coming. end of an era
Economies of scale. Popular routes like Denpasar or Phuket reliably fill planes to the brim with bogans. KL is also cheap because AirAsia is based there.
