Oatly Oat Milk Barista 1 Litre $3.50 @ Harris Farm

430

Harris Farm having a sale on Oatly barista oat milk, haven't seen discounts on it for a while. It's currently $4.80 at Coles. I think Oatly Barista and Alternative Dairy Co are the best oat milks for coffee, terrific in an iced latte.

They also have the same price on the chocolate, organic and regular oat milk.

    Good deal.

I think Oatly Barista and Alternative Dairy Co are the best oat milks for coffee,

Also try Sanitarium barista Oat. Gotta be the barista version, the other one sux. IMO at least on par with Oatly. Regularly discounted to $3. Also locally made so less food miles. (Kudos to Oatly for being the first good one and firing up the competition.)

    • Thanks for the tip will try the Sanitarium out.

    • Also recommend trying Minor Figures Oat Milk - great taste and texturing for coffee, I prefer it more than Oatly. Also Australian made and carbon neutral. Regularly on sale at Woolies too.

I don’t rate Minor Figures anymore. I can never get the texture right. I usually go Oatly or Alternative Dairy Co

I find minor Figures Organic Oat is a bit watery for my liking. Califia is a close contender to Oatly imo

      • +7

Minor figures is the worst imo. Such a weird taste.

        • Yeah, I got 6 cartons of Minor Figures as a substitution for Sanitarium Barista from a Woolies click and collect. It was horrible, I couldn't drink it. Was a solid refund though!

        • I agree, Minor figures is overrated. Its not until you compare it side by side do you realise how much superior Oatly is.

  • +2

My vote for general oat milk is Vitasoy Oat milk. We use it for coffee but it doesn't really froth.

    • Love Vitasoy Oat milk milky, best value oat milk imo :)

  • +4

+1 for excellent taste. Oatly Barista and Alternative Dairy are top tier. The texture is creamy and the flavour is neutral, perfect for a coffee. I'd recommend giving the Oatly Oat Milk Chocolate a go as well, it's a great alternative for anyone looking for chocolate. I have a particular distaste for Minor Figures. I find it's too watery and the flavour is too sharp and intrusive for coffee.

    • +4

Agree entirely with this post. I know Minor Figures has local manufacturing these days, which is great, but I just dislike the taste.

    • +1

Agree, I dislike minor figures having given it several chances. Very watery. I will actively avoid any cafe using it as their oat milk of choice.

      • Same here, I'll actually suss out a cafe and see what carton of oat milk is there. I'll run for the hills if I see Minor Figures.

        • +1

Me three. I won't go back for a coffee from a place that is using Minor Figures. Oatly is the best, Alternative Dairy is close.

    • I also agree, I find minor figures give a weird taste when having it with coffee. Oatly barista has been my favourite oat milk

OP made me spent 120$ for free delivery :)

    Good deal.

I've tried a lot of those mentioned above, but found myself exclusively drinking Oatly. Recently I've come across and am enjoying the Califia Farms Barista Blend.

Not often on special but currently $3.80 at Woolworths.

Definitely worth giving it a shot if you like Oatly. Froths and textures the closest to real milk I've found. I swap between the two every couple of weeks.

just switched and trying califia farm barista oat milk, and so far i'm really enjoying it. i got it at woolies for the same price

  • +1

For me it's definitely Califia Farms and Oatly. Can do alternative, though not my favourite and I actively avoid Minor figures

  • Some of the Oat milk products contain a lot of vegetable gums and other additives. I think Califa is one of them, not sure about Oatly.
Alternative Dairy Co are the best - all natural and Australian made and spot on taste

    • Oatly organic only has 3 ingredients: Oats, sea salt and water. Yes, you're right basically all the other variations and brands have additives.

  • Seeing a lot of comparisons to Minor Figures

    Any comparisons to So Good?

  • Most of the creamy/barista versions of oat milk contain sunflour oil - not sure if that would put anyone off. I have started making my own using MCT oil which is good, even if it doesnt keep as long

    • Always wondered about DIY, how does it compare to commercial ones, e.g. taste, frothing etc.?

      • I've tried making it at home, but it's way easier to just buy the oat milk. Too many variables, can still be slimy even if you heat and rinse the oats and use ice cold water. Still had to add grapeseed oil/xanthan gum/soy lecithin to try and replicate store oat milk and even then, it was a little mediocre. Just a lot of effort but you have more flexibility with making it to your taste :)

I also like Uncle Tobys Barista Oat milk, Coles has it discounted often for $2.50. Good taste, 100% Australian oats etc.

    • It's alright but I find that Uncle Toby's Barista oat milk doesn't froth as well anymore. I remember it frothing very well when I bought it last year

  • INGREDIENTS
Water, Oats (10%), Vegetable Oil (Rapeseed), Acidity Regulator (Dibasic Potassium Phosphate), Minerals (Calcium Carbonate, Calcium Phosphate), Iodised Salt (Salt, Iodine).

Seems like you could make it at home extremely cheaply, with less additives

      Go on then

    • I suspect you'd need a powerful blender and the followup would involve a lot of cleaning up.

You can try YouTube for oat milk videos

        • Yeah I've watched some for almond milk. It involved a lot of long-term soaking, then hand straining by squeezing through special bags, and then a lot of cleanup.

Where do you get your dibasic potassium phosphate from?

    I prefer goat milk

  • I highly rate Chobani too. But Oatly is good.
Will definitely try the sanitarium one as it's a bit crazy buying milk from the other side of the globe.

  • Damn, I am late. Not showing anymore

  • Great stuff! Heaps of Oat Milks out there now so we are blessed!

Uncle Toby's is at $2.25 currently, so half price. Great value got a box of 6 (or 8)
Oatly is good stuff but always over $3
I do wish that Rebel Mylk stuff is out here easily from that James Hoffman guy. Very exxy.
Minor Figures is way to watery and expensive.
Sanitarium is great, always cheaper but no Woolies in my area.
Chobani is very milky, also rare to get in a supermarket? I don't see it easily.
Califia is good, Amazon had a special on them I think.

    Any others?

Might make my own oat milk from scratch and "blend" them with these Oat Milks so I can get some froth.
