Since the release of Pixel 6, you can't buy a new Pixel 5 anywhere, but I'm sure this is some sort of artificial limitation and there is probably stock somewhere being held back to prevent cannibalising Pixel 6 sales. So assuming these still exist somewhere, how do you get your hands on one? I still see new Pixel 3's and 4's on sale from time to time, and we just saw JB selling new iPhone 6's so I'm sure stock is out there somewhere waiting for the right time to leak onto the market in as low key fashion as possible.

I've been down this path as I regretfully did not buy one last year.
If you want a brand new local one, then these are your options- Call Optus/Telstra/Harvery Norman/JB Hifi.
- Ebay brand new - does come up from time to time. I managed score one earlier this year - see note below!
- Ebay refurbished - looked down this path but founded 1 in option 2. see note below
- FB marketplace - see note below

If you buy one that is not brand new, you need to consider when the phone was "bought" as this may affect your warranty with Google.
For eg if the phone was bought in Jan 2021 then the google warranty is until Jan 2023, which essentially means you have approximately 6 months of google warranty remaining. Obviously some stores will have its own 12 month warranty.

I bought mine and used it for a year, still a little too big for me.
Happy with the iphone 13 mini now and the Pixel 5 is destined to collect dust…lol
Really? I'm not very updated on smart phones, but my wife has a 5 and I'm am constantly jealous of how small it is. I wish more smartphones were like that or smaller.
Try the iphone mini 13 and be amazed!
Still not used to the whole Apple way of doing things….but the size/weight of it while I am reading in bed is totally awesome.
The last iOS device we had was the iPhone 5. And it was only the wife that ever had any iOS devices. I loved it's dimensions and design too. We haven't had an apple device in yonks.

I want to store my pictures in the original quality and it keeps telling me I either need to delete stuff or buy a storage plan..
oooh yes i missed that. Free compressed photo which I've been told should be ok most of the time (cos it goes to 16MP)
Only Pixel 1 has free original quality - i've backed up all my RAW photos/ Go pro videos.@mmd: It's pretty ok for smaller stuff, but once you want to print larger photos it struggles.
Having said that, the storage space is more than enough even if it counts towards your free limit, I've got heaps of crap in there but still only at 90% so this is definitely not a deal breaker.

For other's benefit, I ended up getting a second hand one in new condition for $500. It's an awesome phone at that price, better IMO than the 6, not necessarily performance-wise, but size and weight is perfect, the screen size is the same as my Pixel 3a XL with a much smaller bezel meaning a significantly smaller size overall.
If anyone else is looking, Kogan is selling limited stock for $650thanks for the update, i have (2) pixel 3 xl and dont like the size upgrade from the 2 xl i had, so look forward to going back to <6 screen size
