About time it's getting at reasonable price

      Ok

    • +3

Same chance of catching it overseas to here so you may as well travel while you can. Who knows when countries decide to close their borders for years again.

        • +3

I sort of agree. If you could get cheap tickets for the next few weeks, I don't see a problem. But these are months out, so I agree it's risky as things can change quite quickly.

Also I believe the airlines have ditched their covid flight change/cancellation policies. I.e. if you have covid and can't make the flight, bad luck.

If we end up like the 1900's Spanish Flu, the 3rd year was the most deadly because everyone let their guard down, removed masks, started to travel and spread it.

          • -5

@M00Cow: not only that you have a pending war that could happen which would affect us all.

        • +6

Meh. Had covid. Got over it with relatively minor symptoms like a cold. I'm not going to grow old and miss the world. Travel while you can. You only live once :D

            • +4

@kungfuman: Long term effects? Don't believe the media bs mate. Pretty much everyone I know that have had it, including myself, had symptoms for a few days, felt a bit of fatigue for a couple of weeks and then have been 100% again. Yes, covid is bad for a very small percentage of the population, but for the vast majority the virus is a minor inconvenience. It's the media and political power plays that have fed paranoia and made it a long term crisis. It was handled well for the most part, but it's time to move on if you want to. If you don't, then stay at home but don't tell others to.

            • @kungfuman: Living our life may endanger others everyday. If you drive a car, you definitely endanger others daily through living your life. Because we all need to live our lives otherwise wtf are we alive for? Minimise risks to others while enjoying your life. It's about balance, not absolutes. Especially after 2 years.

          • -1

@soulink: Fair enough. Listening to Dr Norman Swan this morning. So far in 2022, 5000 Australians have died from Covid.

            Glad you got over it.

          • @soulink: Nahhh…..You live everyday, you die only once!!!

        • +1

you have no idea what to expect overseas you can't rely on what the news tells you.

Yet you've clearly allowed the news the fill your mind with irrational fear lol…

I've already been overseas as have many friends and the sky never fell on anyone's head. In fact every single person had a great time.
But you wrap yourself up in cotton wool and see where that takes you…

What do you think 'the issue' is here? You want to see my holiday photos because you believe I never actually went on holiday and am making it up? And that the thousands of people flying overseas each and every week isn't really happening either? That if you step out of your home you'll immediately die from Covid?
Dude you need to see a doctor… Who do you think is on these flights:

@1st-Amendment: I am sorry but someone with the name "1st Amendment" and from Sydney is hardly someone that I would believe in any shape or form, the last 2 years of actions from Sydney people have been a disgrace to this country. If any one needs help its Sydney. Giving me an open ended fact no subsance on the issue at hand, doesn't provide me with facts that can justify not going overseas. I know your from Sydney so I will break it down in words you can understand. Your good experience doesn't equal zero risk, and open ended statements with no proof means nothing.

You are free to stay home wrapped in cotton wool living in fear from what you hear on the news. It makes no difference to me. I already have my next holiday booked!

@1st-Amendment: again avoiding the issue. This is why Australia hates Sydney people, because they just don't get it.

He's quite clearly a few sandwiches short of a picnic. Poor guy thinks the sky is going to fall on his head because the man on the TV said so…

@1st-Amendment: I am sorry did you forget the BS over the last 2 years that NSW is directly responsable for for the covid outbreak in Australia? Or are we just avoiding that? and lets not forget the incompetence of your state govenment, not only on covid but on the floods. On yes and lets not forget the PM is from Sydney who buggered up the country entirely, and managed to piss off 3 other countries. So lets just ignore all the incompetence of Sydney people and believe, that Sydney its perfect and can do no wrong. Just ignore all the mess created by Sydney and move forward like it never happened.

                        • @kungfuman:

                          again avoiding the issue.

The fact that you think there is an issue is where you are going so wrong…

This is why Australia hates Sydney people,

                          You really are crazy…

                          • @1st-Amendment: Typical sydney response nice, you wouldn't know a train was up you till the people got out.

                            • @kungfuman: Covid is fake news go for your life travel the world

                              • @RexHavoc: this coming from someone from melbourne which had the worst lockdowns in Australian history. Sure it is.

                                • @kungfuman: I want to call you crazy just to see the comeback you dream up for me based on (my comment history maybe?)

    • The flu is also bad and dengue fever and the all other potential diseases such countries have risk of, vax and stay safe or stay locked in your house, whatever floats your goat

      • the Flu vax is actually effective because its been tested over decades. not the case with the covid vax which as we all know doesn't stop transmission which is half the issue as to why covid is still an issue regardless of being vaccinated or not because its a half arsed vax that only does half the job.

        • Still a non issue if you follow good procedure and are not in a high risk group, but you keep living in fear IDGAF, driving a car is more dangerous.

          • @thesainter: living in fear is not the issue the issue is people don't folllow procedure they don't do as they are told and they cause hospitals to melt down. So if people did have a car accident they would die because of the covid people that didn't follow procedure in the first place they end up in hospital and people from say a car accidend don't get seen and they end up dying in a ambalance. Covid is just the tip of the ice berge it goes as deep as health system issues causing people to die of other things besides covid the bigger picture is people aren't getting it..

            • @kungfuman: Not really, Victoria has 473 cases in hospital and 25 in ICU, the system can handle it

Loading this website quickly takes my back to childhood memories of "Will it Run?" with Crysis.

  • Any more deals for brisbane?

    • Apart from Bali. No unfortunately. However there are a few from the Gold Coast.

  • very tempted at these prices but the preflight testing is a major hurdle still

    • So you’d like to sit next to someone for 7 hours who has covid?

      • +4

could be doing that right now for all i know. point is we are pretty much at the point of assuming its everywhere. get vaxxed and boosted, what else can you do

        • +5

          what else can you do

          Get a pre-flight covid test.

      • Its proven that you will generally be on the plane with plenty of people with covid anyway.

Pre-flight testing just potentially reduces this, but we are coming from a country full of covid anyway.

      • Maybe they do still, maybe I do and then cant travel on my paid holiday. Wear a mask onboard, follow good hygiene and ensure ppl around you wear a mask too (that's the hardest part you can't control). It's all a risk.

          Wear a mask onboard

          https://youtu.be/7reTqobet2o

Yep, whilst I didn't generally advocate for getting medical advice from YouTube, MedCram channel has an interesting, (scientific study) video on why you should wear a mask in the plane.

Agree, seems like a bother and stressor for something enjoyable.

    • Imagine there is a free return flight from Shanghai to Australia. What are your thoughts if Covid screening pre flight was abandoned?

I recently travelled overseas and it was expensive (family of 4) and lots of hoops to jump through. But if that is what it takes to resume international travel then I am okay with it. Being locked to staying within the local government area is still fresh haha.

    Any deals for China?

    • Are they still doing the on arrival anal swabbing test?

      • Question…who is responsible for paying for this? Do i pay for my test or do they Pay Me? I feel like they'll be gettin more out of it than me. Lol too far?

        • its the experience, everyone pays :P

    • Not atm, the ongoing lockdown in China won't see any deals for a while in my opinion.

      • Yeah I can't see it happening this year whilst they have a zero-covid approach. Maybe for 2023 Lunar New Year.

  • Right after I bought my tickets too. FML.

  • In the given travel dates from Sydney to Bali, what is best time to visit Bali with family (considering factors like weather, busy time etc)?

    • try to get as early a date as possible….i,e, end of Oct to end of Nov…any later and it is starting to get into their wet season and will prob be more hot and humid. Or, March sometime?

      • thank you

No deals for Sydney to Singapore =(

    • Unfortunately Jetstar doesn't fly to Singapore from Sydney. Scoot does and they regularly have sales

  • when you have these sorts of fares, they have the Flex one that can be cancelled and get a voucher for the full cost, just wondering if on the $0 return leg you have to select the flex as well (which adds another $90) or just select Starter as it comes up as $0 anyway?

cool, just booked flights back to Korea in November :)

    • Nice one! Looks like I missed it unless I make it a 2 or 4 day trip but nah, I’ll keep an eye out

  • wish I do not need to transfer from Mel to these destinations.

  • Why is there never deals crossing between june and july ..

    • Because of school holidays. No need to have deals then when flights get heavily booked.

  • Thank you! Bought return tickets Sydney to Hawaii for $265 :)

    • When did you make that purchase?

      • Last night, I'm a club JetStar member so I believe those tickets may have been early access

        • Yep, thanks.

    • That you ScoMo? When did you book, so we can get ready for the next disaster.

You got me mate. Last night jenny and I decided after such a successful 3 year term we deserved another holiday. Hopefully we've all recovered from Salmonella poisoning by then

  • Still haven't booked my flights to Sweden, expecting them to be quite pricey by now, but could you have a look at Sydney - Stockholm return around July 20 to August 15? Quite flexible but need to be there for at least the 27th of July :)

  • Any deals from Adelaide to Thailand for Nov-April?

    • +1

Not from Adelaide. But available from Melbourne however.

  • No such fares available for Hawaii

    • From Sydney? There is plenty :)

      • for a single adult yes, but not for 2 adults + 2 kids

  • Booked Bangkok for $569 with the lot - seat, bag, food, Qantas points and the option to cancel for a flight credit, just in case.

  • Didn't plan to but booked Sydney Phuket 27/02-6/03 for 2 adults + 2 kids.

  • Since I am so broke, I will ask my parents to loan me their latest $250 payment from uncle Scott Morrisson so I can fly the Orange Cancer to visit Hawaii for the 6th time. Onwards to the flight search begins.

  • How long is the sale likely for?
Looking at flights to Hobart, just not sure of dates yet.
    Thanks

    • Till midnight tommorow. Seats are limited, so first in best dressed!
