Best Way to Redeem AmEx Points on Platinum Card 2022?

I have my plat card and I guess I want to find out the best way to get value for my points.

What do you guys do?

      its more so to get the best value- ive heard of people getting gold cards and transferring the points because it is better rewards?

      Also heard someone here buys the points? Not sure what the going rate is.

      Do the points expire?

        AMEX points have no expiry.

          going rate is $5 for 1000 points and it does not get better than that right?

            @Hydrotech: That is the rate that I get when I spend them on goods, Amex Travel, Amex Fees etc. I don't know if there are better rates out there. If I were younger and not planning on closing Amex, then I would hold onto them for possible future Kris Flyer Business class redemptions.

    I've redeemed for cash back on purchases, Velocity and Krisflyer transfers depending on my needs and mood at various points in time.

    Krisflyer are good value for business class travel, but they have about 3 year expiry and so don't buy until you need to use them. As I am not travelling any more I just use points to pay.

    Do you mean Amex Platinum, or Platinum Edge? It sounds like you are talking about Plat Edge given you mentioned getting a 'gold card' to use the points for better rewards (which I assume to mean the Ascent Premium program rather than just the Ascent).
