Running Shoes without Super Thick Soles

Do they exist? I went to athletes foot and tried on several pairs by new balance, Mizuno, Saucony. And they all felt like I was walking on platforms.

Can you still get them with soles no thicker than about an inch? I used to wear Nike free runs alot but I think they're no longer made.
*They're for everyday wear too, I'm not a jogger.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Cheers

    • I have owned a pair once before and they were pretty good actually :)

      • You might as well go for the standard Vibram 5 fingers with separate toe compartments. If you like you could go half-way with these Japanese camel-toe variety.

          Japanese camel-toe

Definitely not safe to google (when camel-toe autocorrects to remove any space)

          • @SBOB: I can imagine the conversation with the missus.

“I promise I was looking up running shoes”.

    Still available

Similar to Free Runs - Brooks Men's PureFlow

    • Cheers for that. The Brooks appear to have a softer sole too, which I want.

  • You can, but you’re right, they’re not as in fashion at the moment. This store lets you search by stack height:

That's the word I was after stack height. And low is what I'm after :) will be helpful, thanks.

  • The older adidas adios (5 or 6 I can't remember) sounds like what you're looking for.

  • Have you looked into barefoot/minimalist shoes? Thin sole, zero elevation/drop, you can feel everything under your feet. I've been in them for a few years and I can't wear 'normal' shoes anymore, I have pairs for summer, winter, hiking, running, beach etc. Xero and Vivobarefoot are great.

    • Vivos are great for the times when I can't go barefoot such as in the office

    • They do look good. Do any of the footwear chains sell them or you have to get them online? (Im in regional NSW)

      • I've only ever bought them online.
