Looks like s**t. They're having a laugh.
$75 is cheap for any bed frame, even a subjectively ugly one.
rather sleep on a mattress on the floor
It needs at least another support (leg) mid way along the frame, head to foot.
Looks like it will bend with a reasonable bodyweight applied or if there is too much motion.
Aluminium is typically the wrong material to use for this purpose, unless this is used as display furniture for sale of a house. It uses the same aluminium profile in the centre that is used for a lot of other Ikea beds, without any centre leg. They've held up ok for years.
For Ikea furniture it's usually the 'wooden' parts that are not as good, as it's usually cheap paper honeycomb structure inside thin MDF sheets with a plastic coating or paper wrap.
I actually have Delaktig sofa and the frame is excellent!!! So practical! Light aluminium! Would buy the bed frame in a heartbeat! Shame I’m not in NSW!
Bought mine on special for $399 about 18 months ago! I bought the matching bedside tables (now discontinued) which are part of the bed frame and liked the overall minimalist look (it's designed by British designer Tom Dixon BTW).
P.s. the price might not include the mid beam.Anyone know of some sort of solid bed timber frame? $499 is a joke considering the "wood" is just wood chips and shavings that are compressed. Not the mention the paper thin slats.
I don't know if ikea has any current ones. However, not every product they have is MDF. They do have solid timber pieces. The construction is clearly labelled.
This bed is made of aluminium, and the slats are this thickness since they have springiness to them. If they were thicker, they would be firm.
Is there still stock availability for this deal?
$499 is a laugh
