Someone's Dog Keeps Pooping on Our Council Nature Strip!

Edit: I am going to consider deterring the dog with vinegar / other strong smells. I am waiting for Sydney to stop raining all the time as I don't want the smells to wash away. Thanks for your suggestions! I no longer feel vengeful and will be more proactive instead :)

I've thought about putting a big sign saying something like STOP SH*TTING ON OUR LAWN but I feel like this would make them do it more. Or maybe even make other people join in.

So I think I should install an outdoor security camera to catch them. Any recommendations please?

Also if you have an alternative solution, I'd like to hear it :)

Thanks!

  • this happened to me, and i decided I'd leave it there until nature did it's thing. Hoping that since they possibly take the same path everyday, they will be faced to acknowledge it (possibly process some guilt) and realize what a menace they are.

After a few days, I stepped in it =/

I've now decided to live somewhere else.

Are you suggesting they start selling it and become an entre-manure?

      • This is the way.

    • Unlike cow/sheep manure, dog poop is too nitrogen-rich (and low in nutrients) for your lawn and kills grass if you let it sit out for too long. It also causes lawn fungus and more importantly spreads harmful bacteria and parasites (health hazard). https://lawnlove.com/blog/is-dog-poop-bad-for-grass/

      • Oh shi… poop!

    1. Be patient
    2. Install CCTV that helped monitoring the time and culprit
    3. Cook a delicious fried bacon and put in on top of yesterday’s shit a few minutes before the bad owner arrived
    4. Success 36.8% of the times
    5. Print out the owner and dog face on your fence and make meme
    • I thought success for 31%

I’ve had this issue before. Go to your local Indian/Asian/ cheap supermarket and buy 1kg of the hottest chilli powder in bulk that they have.

Sprinkle liberally every day for a few days.

Dogs will sniff and Not like the smell and will learn to not do this anymore.

You're assuming the dog/s can read
