Where to Buy Quality Silver Jewellery?

Can anyone recommend where to buy good quality silver jewellery (earrings, pendant etc), preferably online?

I can find plenty of stores online, with a wide range of prices, but its hard to judge the quality versus the value.
Any tips?

I wouldn't buy from them, they only sell overpriced junk

      • That's the impression I get as well :-(
Hence my comment about quality versus value. Maybe its brand vs quality vs value?

The best 92.5 silver jewellery (rings and men's necklaces) I've bought was in Turkey and India at the markets but of course they aren't easily accessible. I've looked online for heavy men's necklaces but can't find anything with good workmanship

          • @[Deactivated]: Tiffany is all for the brand. I bought my wife a bracelet a few years ago, the bracelet quality is great but the little Tiffany blue thing attached is certainly not Tiffany blue anymore.

    Blue Nile?

  • Why not buy 18k gold that won't tarnish???

      24k or its worthless.

      • You wouldn't want to wear 24k gold jewellery, it's too soft and will get damaged.

I had plans a while back to start an online sterling silver only jewellery business. My plans went awry but that’s another story…. I did a lot of research and bought about 5k worth of stock from various silver wholesalers. I tried to source stock in China, as in genuine 925 sterling, not plated, not “tibetan silver” or other fancy names for what was essentially coated copper or tin (by the way every businesses I was in touch with offered to stamp any fake items 925 and this is endemically done throughout the online jewellery industry now). Trial and error later I limited my purchasing to historically renown silver jewellery making countries, buying from Thailand, India and Bali. Of course there are others just as good, but these proved best and most accessible. An eg. of a well established, well priced (wholesale but reasonable conditions imo) is the Indian https://www.silverstarjewellery.com/ I got some beautiful gemstone jewellery from them. It’s not hard to source 925 but I wouldn’t buy from eBay, for one. A so called 925 SS chain I bought some time back from an Aussie seller I actually sourced on Aliexpress for a retail price from 5 cents a piece! It looked great in the pics, private seller etc. So it really is buyer beware. Depending on what you’re looking for (gemstones or silver only etc) try to source from somewhere with a proven history of selling genuine 925 jewellery. Hope this helps. Mod: private selling removed.

  • Thanks for the info. A bit depressing about the fake stamped items :-(

  • Nialaya, Thomas Sabo. But it depends on whether you're looking for drip or for vanilla

  • I have heard from some Chinese friends that the minority tribes in southern china (like the Miao tribe) value silver very highly. Their silver jewellery are 99% pure silver. Chinese tourist get to go to a store when they tour the villages. It is a tourist trap like kind of place.

I was gifted a silver bracelet that I really like. There isnt much intricate engravings on it. As they ones they bought for themselves but I prefer the plainer design as a male.

  • My freind has set up a custom jewellery business recently….
