4 Pin PWM Case Fan and Controller Recommendations

Looking at replacing the 5 old 3 pin case fans in my computer case with new 4 pin PWM fans.

I will need 4x140mm and 1x120mm case fans. Just not sure what to get? Since there is quiet a breard range in terms of types of fans and prices.

Only requirements is that they be non RGB/LED and be 4 pin PWM. Which I will be connecting to the motherboard 4 pin PWN connector via a fan hub and considering the inexpensive SilverStone CPF04 1-to-8 PWM Fan Hub or something similar.

Noctua fans. Always Noctua. Quiet, effective, great quality and last forever. 100% worth the money.

  • I just bought the Arctic P12 PWM 5 fans value pack from amazon which seemed to be a frequent recommendation. I used 3 in the front and replaced my single 140mm exhaust with one of those 120mms and temps have been fine so far. I also read that smaller fans can be quieter due to less motor power needed to do a full rotation, and I figure there's probably not that much air difference between 120 and 140. They do have a 140mm 5 pack as well.

One nice bonus is that they can be daisy chained, which turned out to be a lifesaver since my case is pretty big and only one of the front fans could reach the motherboard, which only had 1 fan header on the front side anyway (the rest were down the bottom and had no chance of being reached from any of the front fans). I guess that might remove the need for a fan hub as well.

If you happen to be around the sunshine coast and wanted to swap a 140mm from a 5 pack for a 120mm, I'd be happy to since I have one unused and wouldn't mind the larger one for exhaust.
