  • Anyone knows if these are the leather soles or rubber soles?

    • +1

      Material
      Inner: Leather
      Sole: Rubber
      Upper: Leather

    • +1

Literally written in the item description..

      • +1

Oh thanks, cos the pictures show leather soles

    • Craftsman boots are always leather sole.
Comfort Craftsmans are always rubber sole.

      • Yeah, I probably was looking at the craftsman

        • Sydney boots are leather sole

  • For those using ZIP, the cashback can only be redeemed in lots of $20 under the ZIP rewards tab. So if you don’t use ZIP for anything else, the cashback is actually $20 immediately available after purchase.

    • I thought this was a bug… so you can only redeem in $20 lots and not the full $30 at once? That sucks. Is this documented on their policies anywhere?

      • Yeah man has always been this way for zip cashback. The $10 you have extra from this cashback will keep sitting there until you reach another $10 from another cashback.

Even I forgot this was a thing. However there was no better cashback for this deal so tbh it’s another free $20.

  • great offer thanks OP. I signed up to iconic as there was availability in an AUD9.5 got all the way through to payment then transactions failed and now out of stock in black and chestnut :-(

    • Same :(

    • +1

Keep checking throughout the day. As people change their mind and cancel orders, some sizes and styles come back in to stock. I wanted a size 9H (i.e. the wide fit) in chestnut. It was out of stock earlier, but then 1 left this afternoon.

  • Both. The Craftsmen are
    Material
    Inner: Leather
    Upper: Leather

    The Comfort Craftsmen are
    Inner: Leather
    Sole: Rubber
    Upper: Leather

    It is quite confusing.

    • +1

A dumb question, whats the main difference between Craftsmen and Comfort Craftsmen?

      • +4

Craftsman has leather sole. Comfort craftsman has rubber.

The rubber is much longer lasting.

The leather will need replacing much sooner and is more of a relic of the past. You'll also need to scratch up the leather sole when you first get it so it's not so slippery.

        • +1

Thanks for the detailed reply. I think I'll go for Comfort Craftman then.

      • +2

        Comfort.

  • Does shopback work with this coupon?

    • +1

Yep, I just bought a pair with the 15% shopback cashback.

  • +1

Ordered - keen to see if they're worth the fuss.

  • Can anyone find the Tambo on sale? It's the only one in the extra extra wide fit for people with mutant feet like me.

    • +1

I didn't have any luck with Tambo when searching, I had to get it shipped from a DFO in Melbourne and luckily they had a sale for $349 at the time. Worth calling around as the quality of the outlet boots are almost brand new, that's the cheapest way I found to get them.

      • Good idea, I'll give that a go. Thanks!

    • +1

Ahahaha that's gold. Recently got my mutant feet a pair of 10Xs. It feels shameful that our boot is called something entirely different haha!

  • so they have craftsman in my size and colour, but not comfort craftsman. Thoughts on the differences, presumably comfort are a lot more comfortable with liners and moisture wicking :-)?

    • +2

If you're not used to leather soles, I would skip getting the Classic Craftsman and wait until the Comfort is back on sale/available.

      • Thanks Zhenjie, I have had a leather soled pair of non RM shoes but they do wear out. They have comfort dark tan colour left in most sizes so appears it least popular. My experience with tan shoes (non RM's) is they can get scratched and harder to cover up with polish
        .

        • +1

Tan will show more 'patina' and wear. However the Yearling Tan is pretty sturdy. The Kangaroo leather Tan's wear and patina more, which some people actually find desirable.

Chestnut is an easier colour to polish and looking new again.

    • +1

As someone pointed out, Comfort Craftsman has rubber sole. More comfortable and longer lasting than the leather ones.

  • +1

Dude, how many pairs do you guy even have? lol

    • +1

      3 now. :D

      • Oh man lol it is an ozbargain but it is killing your bank account. What pair for what occasion?

    • 7 for me.

      • +1

        WHY?

        • +2

Because I love high quality, Australian-made, water-resistant, recraftable, heirloom type of casual/formal all-in-one Chelsea boots?
          AND
          because of this group:
          https://www.facebook.com/groups/7466511151/?ref=share

          • @Surefire: What's your occupation though. 7 pairs is too much lol

            • @PeeDee: I work in the office. I wear a pair on each day of the week. I wanted different colours like chestnut, dark tan, black kangaroo, nutmeg, chinchilla, and tobacco suede for sunny days, and a pair of black Gardeners for stormy weather.

It doesn't matter what you wear, you will look good in a pair of RM. I don't have sneakers anymore.

              • @Surefire: Only wear shoes you'd run a marathon in lol.
Wouldn't be a good look with shorts..

At least rotating 7 pairs they shouldn't wear out as fast at all.

$371 for comfort craftsman would have been ok, mine aren't the best (leather soles & seconds) but have had em 6y and only once replaced heel pads at the cobbler. The leather was a prick to wear in, at least 6 months till comfortable, mostly small toe gets hammered.

  • Comfort craftsman or Sydney which one is suggested as a first time buy

    • +1

      CC

    • +1

If you have a wide foot, the wide Comfort Craftsman.

Also pick at least one size down from your normal sizing. I'm normally 11-12 (12 in Ultraboost Runners) and I'm a 10 in RMs

  • I just bought a pair with the 15% shopback cashback promotion. I was meant to receive $30 cashback but only $27 showed up in my account. Does anyone know the reason why?

    • +3

They don’t consider any cash back on the GST

  • +1

how come this post doesnt mention the 15% shopback, anyway ordered

    • Cashback rates show under the image of the post in the "Cashback" dropdown, Zip isn't in there so I called it out separately.

      • Is that possible to pay $200 via ZIP to max out ZIP cashback and the rest over discounted gift card?

        • I'm not 100% sure, but I can't see why not. If you apply some gift cards and then pay the rest using the Zip single-use card within the app for the remainder, it should work.

  • How do craftsmen differ to gardener? I have gardener boots and I am sure there was some reason I chose them over craftsmen.

    • +1

Gardener have a rounded toe whilst Craftsman have the iconic chisel toe.

  • im really angry, my email alert for rm williams didnt trigger.

  • I wonder if I can get the G then swap for H?

    • Dont think you can because its a different item listing. But if you order size 15 for example u can swap for your actual size later on

      • Thanks mate.

  • Thanks OP. Further 6% with Suncorp eGC.

  • I only just noticed I bought size 6, H boots instead of size 6, G boots. And now the chestnut size 6, G boots are sold out. FML.

    • What colour, you could prob sell to someone here

      • Chestnut. The ones i’ve bought are still available, so I doubt anyone would want to buy them from me. If they don’t feel great (probably won’t, have measured my foot width), i’ll probably just return them.

    • whats the difference between G AND H?

      • RM uses F for narrow, G for standard and H for wide feet.

        • I bought the G and let’s see. Never had RM William before. Did have a few WIld rhino

          • @8millpond: Unless your foot is crazy wide it should be fine. I have 2 pairs, one in G and one in H and both fit well. The narrow one just had a longer break in time

      • +1

        The width. For a size 6, a G fit is 235mm in width, H fit is 241mm.

    • +1

If it's any help the H isn't particularly wide. I have pretty wide feet and I have a pair of H and still find them pretty narrow

      • Agree, checked mine and they are in fact a g.
Still pretty narrow, little toe cops it. Most business shoes typically narrow anyway.

Just them on anyway and some Fs in the store then decide

  • Looks like Zip only lets you claim $20 of the Cashback at a time? So you can’t get the full $30 and have $10 sitting useless in zip rewards? Anyone else have this issue?

  • are these for women?

    • I'm sure a woman can wear them.

But the Lady Yearling style boot is more of a women's style.

    • RM has Erica, Lady Yearling, Millicent, and the Adelaide lines aimed at ladies.
Lady Yearling is the most popular.

      • thank you! I’ve been trying to level up my work wardrobe and have no clue where to start.

  • +2

So basically, I'm one of the few remaining OzBargainer's who don't yet get around in a pair of R.M. Williams.

My box of Eneloops is not carrying the weight of respect it once did. Convince me, why/how are these better than cheaper shoes? I'm ready to be convinced and buy (even if I miss this particular deal)

I've recently lost 15kg (wasn't massively overweight before, just lifestyle changes) and whilst foot size hasn't changed, the rest of my closet no longer fits so I'm overdue for for a new style.

    • +2

Mainly just the exquisite quality and craftsmanship. If you look after them, clean them, condition them they'll easily last you the life span of 10 pairs of cheaper shoes. You can also send them to RM to get the soles and elastics replaced if they wear out. Much better for sustainability.

      • That's impressive, thanks I'm on board.

  • Does the code work on RM belts as well?

  • Code not eligible for 15% cashback it's not on shopback page

  • Rigger commando floats my boat. I don't have RM yet, should I buy the craftsmens instead. That's the iconic shape of RM.

  • Thanks for the share

  • Anything else the code can be used for outside of RMs? Is it limited to certain products?

    • Here are the terms of the coupon (works on quite a bit of stuff, just not those excluded below):

I've never seen the appeal of these, may i ask some of you fans to tell me why you like them?

    • I bought a chestnut pair last yr and a couple weeks later bought a black pair.

They just feel really sturdy and well built. They are also pretty versatile as in you can go casual to a bit more formal in them.

With regular maintenance (condition and polish) every few months I can see these lasting a long time.

My chestnut pair are super comfortable. My black pair are still comfortable but slightly tighter the toe area.

It does take a few weeks to break them in.. Perhaps wear them a couple hours at a time and eventually the insole will shape to your foot groove.

    • It really is comfortable to wear.

  • Code doesn't seem to be working for me. anyone else running into same problem?

    • Are you using a new account? I just created one and tested it and it's still working okay.

  • +2

They never have the narrow (f size) range.

    • Thats more of a special order from RM.

Are you sure you are an F? I thought my feet were narrow but I wouldn't go less than a G.

      • Yeah I have a pair in F which fit perfectly. Took a while to get the right fit in store and it's what worked.

  • Does anybody know if these boots will fit fine if they are 1.5-2 sizes too big? I read a comment some where that you should order them 2 sizes bigger so it's easier to put them on. FYI im US size 10/10.5 getting US size 12.

    • Definitely not in my experience, you want to go down instead of up against your normal size. For example, I'm a 10.5 AU in other shoes or so and have an 8.5G for RM (I should be an 8.5 F but they were too expensive, G fits well with thicker socks).

The boot sizing is really important, I had to try quite a few on to get my final size to confirm. But if you're desparate to order in this sale, you're probably best to get a 7.5 or 8 I'd say..

      • Darn it, I already made my purchase like hours ago, hopefully I can go to the rm williams store to get my size checked or get an exchange at Iconic. Also, if you are a 10.5AU, and you're wearing 8.5G, what's it like putting them on?

      • That's strange. I'm a 10.5 to 11 in most shoes and 10+H in RMs.

        • +1

Just recieved my size 12 RMs, and honestly they don't fit too bad and I really can get away it, however I think a 10.5/11 wouldve been almost perfect for my size. Plus it takes me only a few seconds to put them on and off as they are slightly bigger. I think an 8-8.5 wouldve been way too snug/tight.

    • You need to measure your foot as per the instructions. It's pretty hard to guess the correct size as they tend to be different to other shoes.

  • Is it possible to stack shopback 15% while using the voucher code and gift cards? Thanks

    • I stacked shopback and zip fine :)

      • Thanks, checked older post and gift cards will nullify cashback. Will just stick with cashback then.
