Roborock S5 Max/S6 Pure Owners - Is It Worth It?

Hey guys!

Looking to buy the wife either the S5 Max/S6 Pure as a present, and just wondering how "worth it" it actually is.

She has a habit of doing a 'quick' vacuum every night, and mops like once a week. Would these eliminate the need to do a nightly clean? And do they clean really well?

Also, any reason why one model is better than the other? We mainly have wooden/tile flooring, besides for the bedrooms…

Thanks in advance!

Honestly as someone who bought into the whole Roborock robot vacuum "dream", it can work, but there's so many ifs/buts and you really need to work out if it suits your actual home/house/apartment/etc. Note I have an older S50 model but the concepts would probably still be the same.

For us, it actually took a bit of effort to prepare for the Roborock to do the clean - eg. pick up everything off the floor, make sure furniture was in a way that the Roborock could actually get around it (eg we'd put dining chairs on the dining table, set all our electric recliners to fully open), work out which doors would be open/closed (remember it can only go where it can get to, and if you have to leave the door open, it means it won't close behind the door if you get what I mean), check there was nothing on the floor which could become even messier if Roborock ran over it (just google the whole Roomba vs dog poop), etc. Oh and it will randomly get stuck every now and then, and if you want it to vacuum properly at high speed/strength, it's noisy AF. And our dog hated it so we had to always keep dog in the room when doing it. That all being said, when it worked and did it's thing, and we checked progress on the app, it was awesome. It picked up all the dust/fluff/etc. It actually 'felt' clean and we could do it when we weren't at home over a couple of hours.

Now that we've moved to a new place where there's a lot of carpet, stairs, etc… it doesn't make sense so will end up flogging it on Gumtree for peanuts.

I'm sure it works for some peoples' homes but for us it doesn't. We found a cheap portable Dyson handheld to be much more effective for spot cleaning/etc.

ps. the mop is useless. It's literally a wet cloth dragged around the place.

      Mostly agree.

Performance wise, it does a very good job.
I've run it twice in the one day and barely anything was in the dust bin following the second run.

But it's not perfect (bits can be swept out of the suction path) and so may not be suitable for someone who is pedantic enough to do a nightly vacuuming run!

  • If you’re doing a “quick vac” they length of time the robot will operate for will probably be prohibitive. Think 20 minutes for a small room including travel time. It’s a lot of noise, I run mine during the day while we’re out

  • Would be cheaper if you did the nightly vacs….

Sounds like it is more a "tech" present for yourself and less about your wife.

Maybe suss what she actually wants for a presso.

    • LOL that's how I justified buying the Roborock as well… (and also the Dyson V6)

Now the missus wants me to keep an eye on the sales for a bigger/better/longer lasting model.
