Shame you have to purchase as a bundle. Possible to return the game for a refund for its retail price?

    • +2

Nah you cant tried it with a Xbox bundle they'll give you like $70 ish or so depending on the game

      • +1

Hmm, may seem worth it for at least a $70 refund.

      • +2

Was it the same price as what it had on the receipt?

When I got the controller bundle for my PS5 it had the controller on the receipt separately at the bundle price minus $749 for the PS5.

    • +4

It shows up separately on the receipt, but the price is this bundle minus the $749 for the ps5 console.

So you can likely return just the game for the $100.

  • +16

$100 is pretty stiff for these games.

    • +1

i mean it's eb games and a ps5 games i think this is still technically cheaper.

  • +1

Is this the new way to stop scalper?

    • -3

It’s the new way to take advantage of impatient people.

If people didn’t pay the extra for these bundles, they would be forced to stop doing it.

      • +9

impatient? people have been waiting 2 years!
sure another 2 years wait wont hurt them for $30?
you can get this game for $70 maybe so what are you really saving, not to mention EB games are great, it would be a shame if they go under

        • -5

The world keeps turning with last gen consoles.

          • +1

@PainToad: And the world keeps turning if people buy bundles to get their hands on a scarce console

          • +3

@PainToad: Life is too short to be enjoying 10 year old graphics on new games. They can take my $100.

        • maybe you should have got it when it was released the you would have this problem. I got it easy last year with out much effort.

        • impatient? people have been waiting 2 years!

You only had to wait 2 more hours. Guess they tried their luck selling it as a bundle first. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/695623

If no one had brought this, I'm sure the non bundled version would of gone up earlier.

          • @PainToad: Easy in hindsight champ.

            • @pharcyde: Funny, I predicted it without hindsight.

People need to stop treating these consoles like toilet paper in 2020. They are not essential.

        • Covid still going. So will the shortage of this. 2 years is nothing. 10 years is more like it

    • nope

    • EB is the official scalper now lol

  • +1

Thanks Op, been looking for a PS5 for a while. They have processed my pre-order and I have always liked racing games.

    • -2

Don't do it. After the critics reviewed GT7 Sony gimped GT7 with an update that added transactions and ruined the whole thing.

Hence 87% critic score and 20% user score on metacritic

      https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-5/gran-turismo-7

      • +9

FYI they have since updated the game, added new events and also buffed the amount of credits you can earn in a bunch of races. I find it's a really fun game. If the dude/dudette likes racing games, they'll probably like it.

        • +2

So at what point is $ required now? Like, if a non rev-head wanted to have a garage of xx cars upgraded, what number is xx? Without paying any real money.

          I mean, totally indicative. Like.. 1 or 2, 10, 50, 100?

I've got no problem if natural progression and not too much grind gets you a garage of 10-20 upgraded cars.

          • +10

@justtoreply: I have completed the game, haven't spent a cent or gone out of my way to grind races and have probably 50-100 cars (can't check atm) including Ferraris, Lambos, Porches etc. I think if you were a completionist who wanted to own literally every car (or every car in the 'Legendary' shop) you would have to grind a fair bit or pay money. But I have felt zero need to do do that.

            • +2

@woka: Fair enough. I redact my original comment!

Dunno what idiot can neg my second comment though.. Being a question and not a statement.

              • +2

@justtoreply: I upvoted to balance it out, people need to understand that you were just commenting to be helpful, and it also takes a bigger person to admit they were wrong and redact what they said.
Thanks both for the info, I appreciate it!

      • After the critics reviewed GT7 Sony gimped GT7 with an update that added transactions

Just when I thought my opinion of Sony couldn't get any lower this generation.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.
I hope everyone gets a fair go on this.

  • +2

Thanks OP. Usually 30 mins late to these and they sell out. Finally able to get one, thanks!

  • +1

Sweet - I got this as I have a PS4 Pro to trade in, will make it easier. Now to cancel the Harvey Norman pre-order…

    • What's the value of a PS4 Pro trade in? Asking for a friend.

      • Would like to know too

      • +2

According to the tweet by EB, you'll get $271 off your pre-order. I am assuming this is base, and that the 20% bonus trade credit I get for being a Level 4 member will be extra (so $325.20 I guess)

  • +1

    Why is this so popular?

    • +1

      Because supply is so low

      • +1

Will get even lower in Q3

    • because it's good console and playstation has a better exclusive games compare to other consoles

  • +1

Was 30m late to this but managed to pre-order & I got the confirmation email. Sucks it was a bundle but glad I finally got my hands on one.

  • +3

Not going to bother after they cancelled my last preorder, and gross to bundles with full price games.

    • +4

I wouldn't have minded if it was a controller IMO.

  • Apparently you can't get the full refund of $100 and if you trade it back in, it's only worth $50 since it's gone down in value from before.

  • +7

$101 for Horizon Forbidden West or Gran Turismo 7 is a bit of a crap move by EB.

    • +2

      For comparison sake

      • $104 for GT7 through Amazon
      • $105.99 for HFW through Amazon
      • +9

I paid $88 for Horizon delivered day 1, if you're paying that much for those 2 games you're not trying hard enough.

        • +2
          • $88 for the PS4 version not PS5.

If you paid $88 for launch then you didn't try hard enough either, I got mine for $78..

          • +2

            @Lucille Bluth: I got the PS5 version for $88.

            • @eggaz: I stand corrected about $88 for PS5 I see it was for a day $88 in Sept 2021.

I see the PS4 version has a free PS5 upgrade and did end up being cheaper at $78.

        • HFW PS5 version at $88 was the pre-order price, and for a very brief moment. Second lowest was $98. Not a horrible price. Just MSRP.

          https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B09FDCK9TG

You could get the game cheaper later on for sure, but without PS5 :P

        • Exactly. You can easily find plenty of brand new/sealed HFW on Facebook for for $70-$80. Those are probably purchased as bundle originally.

      • +1

Right now yeah, cheapest HFW has been on Amazon has been $88 for a brief moment very early in pre-orders.

So we're just talking pure MSRP here. No discounts. Just stock.

Not bad. At least they're not forcing 3+ games or a brand new TV down your throat lol.

    • -2

$1 for GT7 is too much given its basically a F2P game.

  • +1

Is it worth getting digital version eventho cant buy/trade games? $600 for a console which would have specs that would cost double or more that of a PC seems reasonable

    • +5

Is it worth getting digital version eventho cant buy/trade games?

      Not in my opinion.

      • Are you kidding it hasn't been on the market for 1000 years and will fall in 5 sec without baggage :)

      • Eh each to their own, I have digital edition and the psn store has decent sales anyway. Probably still paying more than at a store but like regularly will have 30% off new (1-2 month old?) releases.. never been a trade in person anyway tho. Also the console is basically silent because of no disc drive.

Edit: Also I don’t really buy many new games, often only play 1 game for about 2-3 months at least

        • +4

Also the console is basically silent because of no disc drive.

Same thing if you were to play a digital title instead of the disc with the PS5 disc version. Having the best of both worlds for $150 more is a no-brainer to give you options in situations where physical was cheaper than digital and vice versa. You can save $150 very quickly from buying physical on launch or by trading back.

I would hate to be stuck with games I couldn't sell back a few weeks after I finished it, sometimes at break even or even a small profit.

And if you don't like a game you can also return it, can't do that with PS store.

          • @Lucille Bluth: You can actually request a refund from the PS Store, only have 14 days to do it though.

PS5 is still definitely worth it for the disc version. You look at stuff like Immortals Fenyx Rising where the used version drops down to $15, cheapest it has ever been on the digital store is $35. Sometimes the difference can be huge and it's best to have the choice, it'll pay for itself easily.

            • @freefall101: But then you have to spend time getting up to change discs. Time is money.

    • I am thinking the same thing but think Steamdeck would get more use. Not that its available in Oz

    • +2

I much prefer physical. At least the games are worth something in the future.

Digital games usually cost more than physical and aren't really "yours". Check the vita, they tried to close the whole store last year but there was backlash. Now games people have purchased have disappeared off their download lists or won't install.

    • +2

Absolutely not IMO, disc version allows you to play PS4 games without buying PS5 specific releases (or remasters) at ripoff prices.

    • I'd only buy digital if you are ever intending to buy 2 PS5s.

If I had known I was going to get my son his own and play with him it would saved money to buy digital games and share them.

    • +1

The digital version is an absolute con.

The price difference is insignificant when considering that certain digital titles, due to licencing, etc, get pulled from Sony's storefronts eventually.

You'll be kicking yourself when in a year or two, physical PS5 games get discounted heavily and your console can't play any of them.

    • Only with xbox and gamepass. Unless you buy only a couple games per year, no to ps5 digital.

  • +1

    Can you trade a Original ps4 !

    • yes, when the stock ready to pickup EB will call you and they will offer console trade. but not sure how much would it worth tough.

      • Seems like it’s about $200 for the trade in

  • +1

Interesting to see how the bundled sales used to add value to the customer entice them. Now it adds no value.
They should just bundle it with $10 charging stations from Alibaba and resell for $100

  • Thanks OP. Thought it was time to finally upgrade from my 500 million PS4 Pro.

  • +4

    Thanks mate finally got one!!!

Better paying $100 extra for a game rather than to a scalper on Gumtree.

  • +1

Got the last deal and they absolutely let me give the game back for $100 credit towards the console. Was in a QLD store so YMMV

    • Did you do it instore or over the phone ?

      • Paid the deposit online and then went into the store to pay off the rest. I had a Pro to trade with level 5 bonus on top.

      • +1

        Just my store to check.

She is checking with hq so I think it's a store specific practice.

Issue is, I got both these games.

        • You own both games and don't have a ps5?

    • +1

My store allowed neither the option of the return of the game nor refund of my deposit to be paid by gift card. :(

  • Was trying to pre-order the digital edition but it wasn't showing any stores available. It looks like they have now removed digital edition as a pre-order option…

    • -1

Smart Cookies got their feed on the best offer :)
The left overs are of no interest to them .

      • +1

Verrry cool! Disc > digital for most people.

  • +1

FYI for those wondering where this was announced: https://www.facebook.com/EBGamesAus/photos/a.119672524737773…

  • +3

The extra controller would of been better bundle

  • I don't know why but I got one. I barely play my PS4 (which I have a two - Pro & Slim). I feel dirty.
What are the chances that I can get my deposit refunded?

    • +1

      7 day return policy

    • +1

You can get your deposit refunded.

    • 100% chance.
Go in store that you chose to pickup and tell them you don't want it. They will refund deposit per their policy.

  • Cheers OP

Copped one Disc Bundle 15 mins ago !

  • Surprised this has been up for almost an hour and it's still accepting orders

    • Same for the Series X from EB. They probably have lots of stock.

      • The last few batches for Series X were in stock for more than 24 hours.

it seems that EB games can handle a lot of stock.

  • Cheers OP
