Tbh i thought it was meh. Not awful but nothing special about it.

Reactions vary quite a bit between ozb peeps.

i played the original when it first came out, so im looking at it through the eyes of childhood memory

i guess if you played it now for the first time, it might seem like an 'ok' game

      • Yes i was a first time player

        • Well, when it first came out in 1993, it was ground breaking, there hadnt been anything like it before, especially on a portable system like the gameboy.

Gameboy games back then were pretty basic side scrollers, so this game comes along, almost a full rpg with a proper storyline, really nice graphics, a huge map, heaps of different locations and some tricky puzzles.

Theres also something cool about playing it on a crappy little black and white screen vs full colour on a 65 inch tv, its just not the same imo.

Its kind of like playing doom or quake now for the first time, they would be the worst games ever, but if you go back in time to when they first came out, revolutionary!

          • @DiscoJango: i really like the old version as well, so when this version came out, i bought the game right away, didn't even wait for a discount. I even bought the amiboo so that i can unlock the shadow link But it was a big disappointment. A lot of time, i don't know what i need to do, i just walk around the map randomly hoping to trigger some event.

I think this game is for nostalgic player only, if you haven't play the game before, you would better off pick up breath of the wild instead.

            • @KKHT: breath of the wild was amazing, if you can, try it on pc with an emulator, it looks so good at 4k

          • @DiscoJango: Yeah I figured. It's kind of my warning to anyone in the same boat.

Zelda 64 had that impact on me. Haven't replayed it though. I just thought the dungeon design and item progression was super tight.

Wish it was longer or had added dungeons to justify the full switch price. But Nintendo tax.

Perfect game for switch lite users

Personally loved the game and wish I could experience it through fresh eyes again.

This was a very faithful remake of the original. So if you liked the original, you'll probably like this as well.
There are some small quirks from the gameboy version which you cannot pull off in the Switch version, like jump 3 blocks with pegasus boots or cheese the rapids ride.

    • The pegasus jump cheeses were my favourite part of the game!

Never played the original. This remake is awesome tho. Thorougly enjoyed it

  • Love this game.

  • Amazon has price matched

  • As someone who loved this game as a kid, it shocks me how well it retained its price. It's a 26 years old AA game remade. it shouldn't be costing AAA price.

I really do miss the 3ds.

  • Thanks for this. Amazon were making it hard to avoid their free trap of Prime so I decided to just pick up from HN.
