Do Fast Food Drivers Earn Extra on Public Holidays?

Of Interest, do Ubereats, Menulog, Deliveroo drivers earn extra in line with what casual workers would normally earn on a Public Holiday? IE Good Friday, Easter Monday?

Food prices have gone up over the weekend with places like El Jannah adding 15% surcharge but delivery prices pretty much the same so going to assume they do not earn extra.

No info about public holiday extra either, only "promotions" and "surges".

The entire industry is predatory, in my opinion.

Just because they've got people desperate enough for work to accept their conditions doesn't make their conditions right.

surprised el jannah would raise their prices to cover supposed staff costs, most of their stores are cash in hand only

Right? And if they try to counter with some nonsense about how they "need the money" just tell them to not be poor and to try being rich instead.

      • It's like a casual worker not getting a shift on a public holiday, but at least they could still work at the regular rate.

Doubt it if they are contractors and not employees under an award.

      Here in Australia
      We have workers rights fortunately/unfortunately

      • They aren't workers (under an award).

        • Not yet

          • @sjj89: Lets hope whatever legal action they are doing fails.

They want the benefits of the gig economy whilst also having protections under an award, I hate people who pick and choose the best parts and call it a right.

        • They are workers
*not directly employed though and act as a contractor

Yes, fast drivers get extra points on long weekends if caught.
