  • Does anyone know if this is good?

      Good compared to…

      • +13

..sitting on an upside down bucket.

        • sit on a bucket, you'll have less issues.

  • Is this a decent deal and store to buy a decent office chair? Was thinking of getting the IKEA markus but if this is cheaper and looks more flexible.

    • I bought a student chair from ErgoDuke on Mydeal about a year ago for my son, still going strong. Rarely seen a mesh ergo chair at this price so I bought this to try out

    • Markus killed my back. The lumbar support is not adjustable. Ended up ripping it out

    $52.36 shipping fee…

Mmy son has this. He is a lightweight but it looks OK to me and he certainly likes it. I'd think it's better than anything at OW at anywhere near the price. I bought and disposed of 2 OW $99 chairs during the lockdown - at the time it wasn't that easy to get alternatives. The mesh on first gave way. The second was a different style but it was hard and uncomfortable. This chair is way better in terms of build and comfort than the ones I had bought at around this same price.

    • Hard to find reviews on this chair so thanks for the commentary. Pulled the trigger with $21.88 shipping fee (effectively $100 delivered using the $10 off code and 13% cashback via CR).

  • Is this any good? I'm 120kg and I want to replace my gaming chair with something more comfortable

    • +3

It says 125 max so not much room left then

    • +1

This one looks like it has the 4 screws into a plywood base using t-nuts. I'm 125kg and I wouldn't but it.

There is a version with the proper ergohuman made by ergoduke that's reasonably priced by still not cheap. I'm not sure how much I paid now, it was more than $500 though. I've been using it ~10 hours a day for at least 18 months I think. My longest lasting chair so far.

Plus, parting with $500 is much easier than losing weight (and more permenant). lol.

Their warehouse is probably based in Melbourne, it's $22 delivered around Melbourne metro areas, that's more than reasonable to ship such a bulky and heavy item.

It's not fair to neg a deal because some areas cost more to ship.

      • +2

I ordered the one for my son at 10PM on a Sunday. It was delivered to a Melbourne address before 9AM on the Tuesday.

The chair is pretty heavy. I was OK with that shipping cost, and we paid more than twice this price for the chair.

    • It’s fair to neg his comment to revoke his neg on the OP’s post

      Lessgo

      • +1

Sure go for it. Doesn’t change the fact the shipping to Brisbane is 50% of the cost of the item.

        • +1

          It wasn't me…

But it is not the seller's problem you are 2,000km from Melbourne. This is like complaining about a C&C deal that is too far for you.

Also, you can't compare freight cost with parcel post. A truck delivering 100 boxes may have to cover 30km radius. A van delivering 200 parcels only have to cover a suburb, sometimes half a suburb.

        • Brisbane here and bought it. Still very good deal and now it's OOS

  • This was also $99 but seems to be OOS now

    https://www.mydeal.com.au/ergoduke-prostar-executive-high-ba…

    • How do they compare?

  • damn that actually looks pretty solid for this price, not sure if I should bite and pay for the delivery cost? mine is at $42

edit: just pulled the trigger, $134 delivered to Gold Coast QLD, plus another $10 through cashreward, so $124 together for ergo chair. not bad at all…

Had one mesh chair from Costco Store for about $220 and it’s as solid as HM.
Got it from store to return easily in case it didn’t fit for purpose. Surprised it’s so damn well.
I have got Ergohuman V2 and this Costco chair beats it by all mean.

      I'm sure it does…

My dad's chair will beat your costco chair by all means.

      • Nah you are lying 🤥

      • +2

My dad's chair is a cop and he'll arrest your dad's chair.

    • I thought the costco mesh chair was cheaper then that! I vaguely remember $160ish but I havent seen one at ours for a while

Using the imfamous 'Korean Office Chair' for a year on now, this looks to have a better designed but unadjustable headrest, worse lumbar system, thinner base, but it's a good chunk cheaper. Student me would've been on this over the Ikea cheepychair + lumbar mesh setup.

Buy whatever you can afford to improve your back health.
For some: that's this. For myself: it was the Korean Officechair.
If I move up in the world (or hit the right age bracket)? I'll grab the ErgoDuke Ultra-Flex (I'm a sucker for those tanky university build quality chairs), or equivalent.

    • this listed headrest as adjustable, not sure how practical these adjustable parts on it are. I recently transitioned into a full time university student myself and have been studying on my crappy dinning chair so far and my ass and back are crying for help.

Hopefully this will do be a major improvement. I simply cannot afford those $1000+ ones from Herman or Steelcase, but yh maybe down the line it would definitely be worth it to invest in those.

      • Depends on how much sitting you do tbh.

I copped a fairly good quality Mirra from the second hand market recently (just under $350), and I do some long hours on that chair for my postgrad and work, and I'm glad I got it. The comfort and ergonomics are a clear noticeable upgrade. Would recommend to anyone with a bad back or just long hours in from of the computer. This is from someone who upgraded from a heavy duty task chair thing by elitefurnitures I think, they post on ozb every now and then.

    • when you say Korean office chair, do you mean the ones on catch?

  • Thanks,i bought one ill report back on how it is came out to $111

  • 65$ shipping to 6000 lmao

  • how is this compare to Buro Metro?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/230769

  • Thanks OP! Just got one for the house :)

  • Hesitated and now it’s gone. Lol

  • Yeah I missed out too, saw 16 then suddenly 2 left then none left, what the hell.

Is this a common price for it? Cashback also lowered to 4.2%. I was opening cashrewards and missed it.

    • +1

Their eBay store still has stock at higher price, maybe check their own website later in the day to see if they add more stock at the special price.

      • Thanks mate! Appreciate it, wonder if they just removed stock after a certain amount sold. Mmm. Otherwise a steelcase will cost more than 10 times more.

  • How often does this get discounted? Finished some work late and missed out, feeling crap missing it.

  • +2

I have this chair, seriously.. avoid it like the plague. I wouldn’t buy it again for even $20… the sheer amount of issues.. you’d be better sitting on a stool

    • +5

      thanks for elaborating.

    • what issues did you have with the chair?

      • It might be decent upon receipt and on the surface.. but you wont see a lot of long term reviews or even many just after a couple of months.. I had it for 3 months before I had issues.

The mesh wears and loosens so heavily you cant lean back anymore and eventually breaks, this also happens to the headrest and makes the headrest just unusable, the headrest adjustment clicks loosen, the hand cushion is attached with some protruding studs that slot into alignment holes, except they're glued on and the right side just came off one day, the hydraulic is bizarre and inconsistent and seems to require readjustment every few weeks, there are so much more small things here and there that noticeably bothered me when they came up.. overall the quality is just poor and sucked out so much life from me.

I had so many headaches with it, the manufacturers are a POS (or perhaps the place I purchased from) and argued with me about the few issues I told them despite clear photos and only offered a partial refund if I covered return post which was clearly against consumer laws. I didn't have the energy, time or effort to explain everything else to them and eventually just threw it out to hard rubbish.

  • Ultimate ozb tip, sit on the floor. Better for your back, costs nothing

  • I'm in Melbourne Metro and it arrived today. Easy to install and impressed with the quality/looks. Coming from the Bathurst racer high back chair from Officeworks and in comparison: this is heavier and more solid. The lumber support keeps my back firmly upright so it's not as comfy as the OW gaming chair but will be good for my back in the long run.
    Only cons so far are:
    1. Gas lift does not go very high. I'm 170cm and at its highest setting, my feet can touch the floor so wouldn't recommend it for those vertically blessed people 180cm and above.
    2. The headrest at its most extended position has a tendency to drop down when I lean back on it (wish there was a mechanism to lock it permanently in place).
Time will tell if it lasts but definitely great value for $100.

    • I share your sentiments @avivads, it is a really nice chair. The mesh is in no way HM quality but it is still comfy. However, if you are tall I'd return it without opening it. Or potentially you could replace the gas lift / put something in the hole to raise it.

    • I'm in Melbourne Metro and it arrived today.

      Sydney Metro, arrived today.

Easy to install and impressed with the quality/looks.

The instructions are a little wrong. Part F isn't really usable since it's just a single washer for a hole that does not exist on my headrest? Most likely I'm just stupid.

The lumber support keeps my back firmly upright so it's not as comfy as the OW gaming chair but will be good for my back in the long run.

The OW chair has the worst pleather and it just flakes everywhere. Obviously not a problem here. We'll see if the mesh holds up long without tearing or acquiring holes.

Gas lift does not go very high. I'm 170cm and at its highest setting, my feet can touch the floor so wouldn't recommend it for those vertically blessed people 180cm and above.

My parents were not blessed with such vertically advantaged children.

    • you're feet so ideally be touching the ground and flat on the floor tho?

  • Got the chair yesterday as well. As said above doesn't raise very high which is the only issue for me so far. If anybody comes up with an idea or knows which replacement gas lift fits please let me know.

    • +1

Agree - nice chair but not high enough for average height guy.

The diagram says "26cm" meaning that's how long the gas cylinder is
      https://assets.mydeal.com.au/44456/ergoduke-1200-series-exec…

The gas cylinder sits too low I think. MyDeal support were unhelpful when I asked what to do.

Here is a general guide about ways to make office chairs taller
      https://ergonomictrends.com/how-to-make-office-chair-higher/

Are you going to keep it?

      • Thanks for the links. I'll keep the chair, but will try to increase the height a bit. The rollerblade wheel option might be the way to go, but I can only find 3" sizes in Australia which would still be a bit larger than current wheels.

  • I ordered the mesh & upholstered version and it arrived this morning.

I have the exact same feedback as @avivads. I'm 174cm and am at max height. The head rest is at its max height as well but still isn't in the right position. I'll probably end up removing it. The cushion is quite thick and very solid, very comfortable. Spent one (~8hr) day so far in the chair and didn't feel much fatigue or discomfort.

  • Just got mine as well, ordered the upholstery one. My height is 186cm (6'0), I don't have too much problem with the max height? are you all siting with your feet afloat or something?

anyway here are what I like and what I have issues with:

    positive:
    - solid build.
    - lumbar support is quite good.
    - arm rests adjustability, height, rotation, and forward and back.
    - perfect fit for my 164cm (5'3) girlfriend including the headrest, I'd say maybe people with height up to 5'6 can fit the headrest well.

    negative:
    - max height could be more, sure.
    - arm rests adjustable parts moves quite easily, accidental hit will send them forward and tilted.

    • lastly, I have a major problem with the headrest due to my height. At its max adjusted height and tilt, if I'm stilling up straight, it would be hitting my upper back in uncomfortable ways, so this renders the headrest completely useless for me. The only use I can make out of it is if I'm leaning my arse forward up on the seat a bit and lean my head into it, but that's too situational. I will be removing the headrest all together I think.

    • another issue with the headrest, is as mentioned, it easily drops down with little force so useless you are leaning directly into it, it will drop and there is no lock mechanism to solve this.

With that said, for the price and for what it is, I will be keeping it since it's a solid chair overall for this sale price (without the headrest, for taller people), this should serve me enough for my student life. Otherwise, I would recommend other people to spend in the 600+ range or so for something that will work better.
