  • do you guys add on wheel alignment as well when changing 4 tyres? $79 seems cheap enough but from reading on forum wheel alignment isn't needed most of the time and just an upsell most of the time? My mechanic did say I should get one done about a year ago, not by them but at the next tyre change. Don't know who to believe.

    • Depends on how much you drive and how many potholes and bumps you hit. Myself, I drive only 5-6k a year so get it done once a year. If you don't get it done, then tyres on one side may worn out faster depending on how misaligned it is but I might be wrong. I am a noob as well.

      • well I had the car for 7 years now and never had an alignment and the wife hit the curb plenty of times I'm sure so yeah lol.

        • Are your tyres worn unevenly? When you drive down a straight flat piece of road and take you hands off the wheel does the car pull to one side? If no to both then no huge need for an alignment.

          • @LowRange: I dunno anymore cause they are all fairly worn but I did the unscientific test of hands off the wheel and see if the car faded one way and it did

            • @Frozensage: it'll naturally pull left since the road is lower there.
look at your worn tyres, do they have uneven wear?
most new cars don't have much to adjust anyways unlike the old days.

              • @neverlate: It’s been rotated a lot of times now and I can’t tell anymore.

        • One a year mate, for sub < $80 it's worth it.

    • As long as the car is driving fine and no particular part to the tyre is wearing unevenly I look at it like this: If an alignment costs $100 and results in the tyre having a 10-15% longer life, then which is greater, (10% of the cost of the tyre x 4 tyres) or $100?

  • +1

Oh no, just got all 4 replaced last week for only $100 off offer :(

    • +1

      Me too :(

    • +1

      Mee too

  • My Camry 2019 V6 has the following tyres

    235/40/R19 - 92Y

Will the 96W version with the same diameter fit my car? I can filter to the same 235/40/R19 but the difference is the "96W" on the Pirelli vs mine which says 92Y.

Would love some help if someone knows would be great

    • +4

92 is load rating so 92 or above is fine.
Alphabet y/w means maximum speed it can support, from quick search it seems y is above w but do your research as well.

  • 225/40 R18. Should I go for powergy or cinturato. If anyone has good idea on these. Currently on dragon sport.

    • I just replace 4 PS4 to powergy last week, paying 900. PS4 no longer available and ps5 is 325 each. Ride is must smooth and good on wet road. But less control especially on corner than PS4 .

      • Thanks for the response. How is the road noise from powergy? Cinturato being tourer oriented tyres has less noise as per online reviews.

4 set of Pilot sport tyres crosses more than 1k. And cant seem to find deal on these. Maybe people are willing to pay premium for these premium tyres.

        • +2

Usually PS4 only cost 220-250, but seem discontinued products. BJ have some but 300 each.

I drove Kia Cerato gt , it come with PS4.
Much better control than powergy. You feel you in control your car, start quick but not feel smooth, nosie control not good as powergy.

PS 4 more like top performance tyres, and powergy is suit for everyday driving with a little bit performance.

    • I replaced some continental CSC5 in this exact size with pirelli p-zeros and I'm pretty happy. Steering feel is just as good, pretty grippy and reasonable noise. Should be under 1k a set?

      • How’s pzero compared to powergy? I could get 4 set of powergy at $630 from jax deals

        • Not really comparable but depends what car it's going on. Economy and comfort focused vs performance focused (p-zeros), I'm going for performance every time.

Though I guess even the economy tyres from a major brand still has to meet decent standards at least vs some random Chinese brand.

  • +6

No where near as good as my car black Friday, HODL till November lads

    • +1

Yep, $648 for the Dragon Sport during Black Friday vs $736.40 now.

      • inflation

      • For me the difference is huge. I paid $86 for dragon sport pirelli per tyre and now it's over $160 each tyre.

  • Still almost $400 a tyre for something rated well. Are Pirelli generally overpriced or is it justified?

  • -3

This is better than buy 3 get 1 free deals.

My maths might be off, but wouldn't a 'buy 3, get 1 free' deal work out better than a straight 30% off?

    • +12

1 tyre free is 25% off.

      4 tyres at $250 each is $1000

      Buy 3 get. 1 free is $750

      30% off 4 tyres is $700

      • Forgive my maths. It's been a long long weekend! lol.

    • +4

This is also better because you don't have to buy all 4

      • and that's important for me - I don't rotate tyre's on any of my cars - rotate is the biggest rort in the industry.

just leave you rears alone they will last 100,000 klm's or more on FWD

you will just have to replace fronts a little more often

        • Agreed, you should leave em where they are so you can diagnose uneven wear (if there is some) and replace what needs to be replaced.

        • I don't understand your logic. Tyres wear unevenly, like the front left on roundabouts. Why wouldn't you want to spread the wear among the other tyres evenly? Nobody is charging for that in a service so where's the rort?

          • @tromboc: You have 4 tyre's (and Spare but not inc this discussion)
            Your in a FWD car
            - lets say the car has correct wheel alignment and you're not slamming into gutters pot holes every day
            - you also check your Tyre pressure regularly.
            - you may also up the front tyre pressure by 2 psi ish knowing that they do all the work.
You drive the average - some highway and then city and round about's - all at normal speeds. other than I'm late for work speed.
            1. Front tyre's do all the work, Steer, 70 to 90% of the braking, all the drive goes through the front wheels.
            2. All the cornering etc etc , and the construction of the belts within the tyre's mold's to where that tyre is.
            3. Rear wheels just trail along barely wearing.
and for the sake of this convo lets say "With rotation" you average 50,000 klms on a full set of tyres.(4)
            With No rotation.
Rears will last much longer - I have seen on a Camry 120,000 klms- still well within the wear strip
Just changed fronts every 40,000 klms
so Pay for a Full set every 50,000 klms , or only two tyres every 35,000 to 40,000 klms
(Maybe longer - as HelloOzB said you pick up alignment problems earlier by no rotation)
ALSO **note that a tyre that has "Inside or Outside" wear will continue to wear that edge when swapped to the rear.

Don't rotate your tyres it dosen't effect me - but if you are selling tyres you want them to wear out asap
My Tucson original rears 78,000 klms and still have 15,000klms in em - just changed the fronts to Kumhos (Crap tyres but cheap)
(Ex Mechanic, Ex suspension fitter and wheel aligner) :) and omg can't believe i typed all that.

    • Not if your tyres are staggered, the free one is the cheaper one. PZero Corsa AS2 for my car are 680 front / 880 rear at Jax, do the maths and you'll see 30% off the total is >5% more saving than getting a free front one

  • Great pricing on the Verde All Seasons.

  • -3

How is this a bargain? I changed tyres for $299!

    • Pirelli's?

    • Are you driving one of those ride on cars for kids? Even the cheapest small 16inch tyres are like $100+ea

    • +1

Well we don't all ride unicycles 🙄

  • Great find!

  • I thought the Jax tyres was famous for price Jack? like that $63 puncture repair LoL

    • quick search of the verdes all season and price was the same elsewhere. Rare to get a buy 3 get 1 free deal on suv tyres for a top brand and this one is better than that.

  • +1

if only I could score some motorcycle tyres like the diablo rosso.. :/

  • Price is inflated compared to others than they take 30% off that. So realistically its a 10-15% discount. Still decent I guess.

    • +2

Not in my experience. Jax always the cheapest at my local store. Maybe the franchise near you has fatter margins.

  • Thanks OP. Booked 8 types for my two cars. Just want to know if anyone has experience with their car service? I'm also planning to do the log book service for my two cars and not sure if they are good at that or not. Thanks in advance.

  • The price aint bad. It's on par with Tempe tyres (comparable tyres of different brands).

Thanks OP. Just so happened to need 4 new tyres. Under 3mm tread.

    • +1

Jax has way better service, and Tempe are cheap because grey imports.

      • True, our local Jax does a good job. Can't fault them yet.

As for grey imports I didn't know that. Could you educate me in regards to the cons of grey imports when it comes to tyres? Just warranty?

        • +1

Not through official channels that have a lot of middle man 'taxes'.

  • Why are 'XL' tyres cheaper? I thought XL tyres had more material, more steel belts inside and thicker rubber to reduce damage and carry 'xtra load'?

  • +2

bit of rip off, last time when mycar did tyre sale with buy 3 get 1 free I was getting $1300ish for the 4 tyres installed, and this time quoted with jaxcar ended up with $1750 after discount. So they jacked the price high enough to get your 30% covered. No go for me

    • +1

      Had similar experience

  • had mine replaced 4 tyres 245/45/19 P Zero months ago for $260 each tyre at local tyre shop (not Jax, not bob Janes, not bridgestone…). so, ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • What are the dragon sports like?

Wet, dry, noise are the concerns - say compared to re003's?

  • Good deal but Mycar had 50% off Pirelli on black friday last year FYI

    • Yep, mycar deal is the one to get if after Pirelli's and can wait until then

  • If your in Sydney. Tempe tyres will (usually) have better prices than Jax

    https://www.tempetyres.com.au/tyres?Brand=Pirelli&TyreWidth=…

  • good deal. really wish they had motorcycle tyre - really in need of one

  • How often to Pirellis go on sale like this?

  • Thanks OP, I need 2 new tyres!

  • Cheers OP, was actually looking for new tyres, picked up 4 P Zero.

  • Which Pirelli P Zero's do people recommend for a hot hatch?

    P Zero or P Zero PZ4?

    • PZ4 are the latest version of the P zeros. The original p zero are still fantastic tyres.

  • +1

Ugh. Was at checkout and got to the final confirmation page as it hit 11.59pm and back to full price :'(

    • +1

And you’d spent an hour+ deciding and researching and adding to cart eh. I know how that feels.

      • you know it…

  • +2

Just a heads up everyone, if you bought 4 or more during the month of April, you can also get cashback!
    https://www.jaxtyres.com.au/promotions/pirelli-cashback-marc…

    • The cashback is 16" $50, 17"+ $100. I got 16" x 4 and the cashback did not apply on checkout. So I assume, have to rock up when getting fitted and ask for the $50 cash back?

    • Not to be used with any other offer

  • I was disappointed with this offer - namely the online booking process.

I have a 4WD that came with 245/70/16 tyres, and I tried to book online for a set of the All Terrain Plus in 245/75/16. Jax's website literally would not let me proceed to book the deal in as I had selected an invalid tyre for the car. And because it was valid only for the Easter weekend, I couldn't phone up or go in store to manually make a booking. I had a set of the All Terrain Plus on my last 4WD and was very happy with them, and so to miss out on $400+ off is a shame.

    • I booked my car in but put in a different year/model at checkout

I just googled what cars would use the tyre size I required and filled in one of those models

  • Are these hards or softs?

  • +1

I ordered a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde (245/55 R19) as part of this deal. My local store rang me up today and said the tyres are now in stock. Drove down this afternoon and had them installed with wheel alignment. Tyre build date is 2203 (3rd week of 2022) so still very fresh. Tread depth is around 8.8-9.0mm and should last long. Happy with purchase.

  • Guys, don't believe the booked-in date, ring your JAX store and check if the tyres are available in-store. When I did the booking, it said that tyres can be fitted on 23rd and I made a booking. When I went to get the tyres fitted today, they said that no stock in-store and will have to come back once they received stock.

    • Damn, that's a shame. My experience was all good yesterday. Actually, I bought 3 tyres (30% off) and they fitted 4.

  • I booked my car in at a place an hour away based on lowest price. I was driving there, got half way (1/2 hr before the booking time) and they called me up to say the tyres were not there yet. So I turned around and drove the 1/2hr back home, rang them and cancelled it, then rang Bob Jane who price matched Jax instantly and are only 20 minutes away. Taking it there tomorrow.
