Kincrome Socket Set 1/2" Drive 23-Piece $69.99 C&C Only @ Supercheap Auto (Limited Stores)

230

Been eyeing on this metric only set for a while since I hate sets with imperial that I never use. Normal price is $99 now it's $69.99 so 30% off. Not much stock and only place available was in Ringwood VIC. Unavailable for delivery, which is also a bit strange.

Not too bad for a metric only set and 1/2 drive too.

  • nvm… it is… I see the symbol in the lid

  • nice, it doesn't have a long extension though.

As if they wouldn't include one in this set. I recently got the 3/8 kit and the quality is very good. Made in Taiwan.

  • In stock across the South GC

The set includes six screwdriver bits, apparently (from the photo) with standard 1/4-inch hex shaft. How on earth are you supposed to use these bits? Does the ratchet handle double as a screwdriver?

    • Was wondering the exact same thing.

    • Guessing here… maybe the 8mm socket.

      • No, 1/4" bits are ~6.5mm. Guess they could be custom bits but that'd be even worse as you wouldn't be able to replace lost or damaged ones or use others.

  • This set also was in the advent calendar at Christmas for $30

    • Found it on the Kincrome website: https://www.kincrome.com.au/search?ProductSearch=p2103

Do Kincrome do advent calendars every year? And where did you see it for $30?

      • They have for the past 3 (?) years. Usually around the $100 mark at full price but they do go on clearance if there's heaps of stock left in December

        • Thanks for the info. The deal you linked to has a comment mentioning a different deal, where Bunnings had them for $30 on clearance: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/670810

I'll keep watch for a similar bargain this year, although their advent calendar sets seem to be getting smaller and smaller with every passing year.

  • Just got the set today. The screwdriver bits are indeed 6.5mm (1/4") so it's pretty much useless, since the smallest socket in the set is 8mm.

For what you get and the quality, especially the wrench, it's decent. I think a longer extension and a 1/2" to 1/4" adaptor would be perfect, but I've got both of these in my old set so not a huge problem.
