Coming up as cheapest on camels. Don't know if you can Can't claim for the Steam Wallet code if you purchase from Amazon UK through AU.

$415 if you have eBay Plus. Can also access the $60 steam credit. Credit goes to BennyHe
eBay Plus offer

Without heatsink is $391.73. I think it's the same drive, just with no heat sink. Can someone confirm?

No heatsink

  • The added heatsink elevates speed, power efficiency and thermal control to maximise gameplay
  • Samsungâ€s nickel-coated controller reliably manages NAND chip heat levels
  • The 980 PRO's heat spreader label allows thermal control access
  • The 980 PRO Heatsink uses data centre SSD technology to dissipate heat, for continuous ideal performance gaming on most consoles and PC systems

Edit: Sorry! Sounds like you can't get the $60 Steam credit with this deal. I guess if you don't use Steam and/or don't want to bother with trying to sell the Steam credit then this deal could be OK. Otherwise, maybe local stores are better.

Edit 2: Added Ebay deal to post.

You cannot get the steam wallet code, they will reject you as they ask for the serial number and product code, and a uk variant will not be eligible.

    • How much steam wallet credit do you get with this drive? I couldn't find the info on Samsung's page. I guess factor that into any price comparisons. Cheapest I saw on staticice was $448.93. I understand staticice isn't always the cheapest but it's a pretty good guide.

Edit: $60. Hmm the credit is pretty decent actually. I guess if you don't use steam and don't want to bother with trying to sell the credit then maybe this deal is worth it.

        Did a search on eBay:

        https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=980+pro+2tb&_trksid=…

$415 with heatsink if you have ebay plus and you have local warranty and $60 steam credit. It is better than waiting parcel from UK.

        • Good deal if you have eBay Plus. By the sounds of it lots of people think it's a waste.

          • @ozbs25: Ebay plus only costs $4.95 for one month though? Trying to sell a $60 steam credit for $10 to break even with this deal doesn't sound too hard since steam credits usually sell for 20% off face value.

@ven041: I have both and have always paid the full $49. It only takes one or two really good deals to come out ahead and the good deals are usually on stuff that I am more inclined to buy.

It's just the overall vibe around here I think. eBay Plus gets a lot of hate.

Already over a month into my RMA claim with Samsung for my SSD, and looks like at least another month or two at this rate.WD better drive and the customer service cant be any worse than Samsung.

    • Not sure why the neg votes as all I did was post a benchmark test that showed the two drives are almost equal. But hey…save your negativity for far worse posts instead of wasting them on a user providing information. :)

  • does the head sink work in ps5?

    • +1

      Yep!

    • You very necessarily need a heatsink to use it in a ps5.

  • It's fairly much of a muchness but the WD Black SN850 is currently $422 via the UK too.

IMO the differences between the benchmarks are not something most people will notice, but if this stuff matters to you, for an extra $13 it's an option. .

  • Has anyone compared this heatsink to third-party ones?

I'm wondering if the heatsink is worthy of the price difference if don't plan on using it immediately.

  • Just tried the ebay deal with futu_online_ebay but as soon as I paid for it, it changed to another seller shopping_express_clearance.

Is this legit? I've read somewhere that they're part of the same network of stores but are they allowed to redirect my purchase to another seller? Also what happens now with the Steam wallet redemption?
