So? Add something that costs $2.57 and you get it shipped to you for free. Having it shipped free is 100x better than having to drive out to msy with their shitty customer service and long lines.

and what about warranty? i'd go with the local australian warranty

      • He's replying to your statement that the cheapest in Australia is $49. Did you forget you wrote that?

        • I didn't write that…

Edit: Also that shipping deal was only for Americans. So meh, not a deal then.

        • you're right, my bad

    • I don't understand msy, how come the parts don't show on msy website? Is this like special order or something to get all these other sites because I didn't see any z77 boards what so ever on the site.

Buying at MSY is like buying under the counter porn in the 70's:

Customer: "Have you got an XXX?"
MSY drone: looks sideways at fellow drones & customers, then shrugs.
Customer: "So you do have one?"
        MSY drone: "Yeah"
        Customer: "Well, I want it!"
MSY drone: mumbles, turns his back on customer, shuffles boxes, goes out the back, comes back with XXX "that's the last one you know, we've only got YYY left now."
Customer: Care factor & patience concomitantly approaching zero, hands over money - "Right, yeah, whatever!"
MSY drone: Tongue protruding, metering out change & invoice, looking over the line of customers in store like he has some sort of alternative - "NEXT!"
Customer: Exits the Monty Python-esque scenario ne'er to be seen at an MSY again!

Oh, and that's the happy customer skit…it only goes downhill from there! :p

    $22.43 + $6.23 = $28.66

put price including shipping in title,
it's unlikely anyone going to PICKUP for $22.43!!!

and like asdassa said, it's $25 @ MSY, so no deal!

Not very good reviews from Amazon. Slow and corrupted photos.

I've got two. Never lost a photo.

I have quite a few LX SD cards. To be honest, I agree with those Amazon user reviews.

When you benchmark the card on PC, you do get class 10 like performance (i.e. write speed is 10MB/sec). However, when you actually use it in a DSLR, depending on your settings, video recording may stop (that means the card is not fast enough). However, the setting to cause this issue is probably not something you would normally use for DSLR 1080p24 video - I used it to compensate the poor lens I was using. So, to test your SD card, record 1080p video with an aggressive setting (fast shutter speed).

Photos - no issue so far (touch wood).

    • ive taken so many photos with this card,
      no issues at all.

Taking photos is not a good test on the speed of the SD card. Your camera puts photos in the internal buffer first, then writes to the card. That's why, even if you have the world's fatest SD card card, you still cannot improve the maximum duration (time) your DSLR can take photos in maximum burst mode - the buffer size in the camera determines how long the DSLR can be in the max burst mode without slowing down.

1080p video recording, however, is a good test. If your SD card cannot keep up, your DSLR will have to abort the video recording. You generally expect a class 10 card to be able to handle 1080p video recording.

        • Thats not really accurate. You can increase your burst rate on your DSLR by using a faster SD card - to a point.

Using my Patriot LX 16Gb (10Mbs) my burst rate on my 550D slows after 3-4 shots (internal buffer full writing to SD card) but on my Sandisk (19Mbs) it doesn't slow until 5-7 shots.

I also get the buffer icon popping up on the LX card when recording 1080p(24fps) but not at all on the Sandisk.

I think the Patriot card is a great backup card and works well, although I'm glad I have a faster 8Gb card which I use for the majority of the time. Its a good price to your door - +1 a bargain from me :)

I have 16GB version. Never failed me.

no deal. I really wish people would check MSY before claiming CHEAPEST IN OZ which always sounds UNCHECKED as its a throw-away BS line.

    Credibility = 0

Have used 2 of the 16gb on my D7000 for a year and have never had any issues, fast speed saving/upload

    • Photos - no issue (but then D7000 puts the photos in the buffer than write to the card).
Video - 1080p24 with a shutter speed higher than 50 (I know - you usually wouldn't go higher than 50), try it at night time. Hopefully, you don't have any issue (in my case, the card is not able to keep up).

  • $25? How is it so cheap? Are these bad?

I bought the Sandisk version from SS for $40 and that was the cheapest it's ever been.

    • If it is for a DSLR, you picked the correct SD card. Not a fan of SS though, but at that price, it certainly is an attractive deal.

      • Why is the Patriot almost half its price? Are they bad cards?

  • Saw this last night but the reviews put me off.

This is the one to get:

    30MBps WRITE

    $38.02 US

    cheapest on staticice is $54.73

  • Is there anything class 10 cards don't do as well as slower ones? That is, is there any reason, other than price, not to get class 10?

  • This brand is bad. bought 3 of these from MSY like 2 months ago, used it on my Canon DSLR. one of the card failed…used time around 2 months. Suddenly died while taking a photo, it cannot be read by any card reader or devices. Can't recover. money gone down to drain, as well as the important newborn baby photos. =( much disappointed on this brand.

I also have Panasonic and some bigger brands, they all work fine, I went for the Higher speed and bigger capacity advertised here, turned out to be dissapointment. Would never buy this brand again.

    • ^^ this, mine got corrupted as well and somehow the housing broke from the edge of where the metal connectors are. Lost about 2GB of RAW photos although my jpegs were backed up. This happened on a canon DSLR as well.

      • With DSLRs, you also need to watch out for card compatibility.

My DSLR had issue with Sandisk Ultra SD cards initially. When I do a delete all photos using the DSLR, the card will become unusable on the DSLR. Also, once in a while it would fail to write the the card. To fix it, I needed a firmware update.

That said, I wouldn't recommend these Patriot LX cards for DSLR - unless you have one that has dual card slots and you use LX as a backup (i.e. DSLR writes 2 copies - one to each card).

    • +1

you're talking about memory card compatibility right? i remember when i bought my Olympus camera, towards the back of the manual it specifically stated that only Sandisk and Toshiba memory cards are guaranteed to work with the camera, it also explains why when you buy a "class 10" card you get class 10 speeds on a pc but less than class 10 speeds with something like a camera, from what i understand the firmware in some cameras will lower the write speed on unidentified/off brand cards just to play it safe so you don't(should'nt?!) lose your photos

      • Sorry… but I tried this:

Kingston class 4 card (benchmark shows 10MB/sec write) - 1080p video test passed with flying colours.
Sandisk class 4 card* (benchmark shows 4MB/sec write) - 1080p video test failed within 30 seconds.

*The Sandisk class 4 card was purchased from an AU online seller for dirt cheap price.

    • I am not impressed with Patriot either (benchmark shows class 10, but unlike all other cards I bought from MSY, where they exceeds the quoted class speed, these Patriot cards are only manage to reach their rated speed). I would say that unlike the well known branded ones, where they tend to under-quote the speed, Patriot does not do that for the LX series.

      However, two things:

      • Regardless of which cards you have, you should always backup the photos to a safer device as soon as possible. These SD cards are fragile. I bought a memory product from a famous brand and it also failed. Important photos deserve at least 2 backup copies. More and more DSLRs now come with dual card slots. All full frame DSLRs have dual card slots. In one video I saw, the pros backup their photos onto a pair of SSDs as soon as they finish shooting.
      • I found with SD cards, you generally get what you paid for. These cards are priced just the same as low end Kingston/Sandisk cards (the Patriot 32GB one is actually cheaper) - so have realistic expectation.
  • Never use this in ur dslr if U value ur photos. I lost 32gb of my Thailand holiday photos. I am so annoyed. Data rec centre attempted the recovery but failed.

  • Not a deal as pointed out since MSY have them for $25.

I've had a couple of these cards before, and never had a problem with them (took over 10k RAW's with no issues). Then again, I always safely remove the card from my computer and always format it in camera when I put the card back in, so maybe that's why. Speed was sufficient enough to record 1080p24 footage with my DSLR, so no complaints from me.

  • I've been using a 32gb (this model) in a panasonic hd camcorder for a while and no problems at all. Maybe some SLR's are writing faster or something?

When they are $15 I will buy a few more, but I always burn off 25Gb when I reach it to a blu-ray for archiving as I wouldn't trust solid state for archival. :)

    • DSLR's have an incredible bit rate on their high res videos, much higher than most camcorders. That said 1080p(24fps) works fine on my 550D with my Patriot LX 16Gb.

  • Whenever I buy any flash memory I test it first, I'm currently returning a Patriot 16gb Rage as it fails big time. Nice to know before you use it and find your files are corrupted.

  • Is it worth paying extra for class 10 if I'm only going to use it in a tablet? Only read, not much write. Can get a 32gb class 4 sandisk for the price of a 16gb class 10 sandisk…
