Bet everyone's looking forward to the long weekend! We've had a few exciting tech and logistics breakthroughs at Lime Blue Coffee, so we thought we should celebrate with a deal. I'll just quickly mention the two wins that pertain to you, hopefully I don't write a novel as I often do :)

1) I've figured out how our new calendar scheduled dispatch system can work without the need for you to write "delayed dispatch" in order notes (I know it appeared redundant, but did have an important purpose at the time). Now you simply select an available green dispatch date on the cart page. I've also made it so everyone has to go to the cart page before checkout to save people time if they used an Express checkout method and then had to email me after. Express checkout options are still available after the cart page e.g. PayPal Express.

2) I've continuing to prioritise always improving our logistics options. Today we're commencing a trial for same day delivery as dispatch in Melbourne, VIC. Due to the pricing structure (changes every few km's increment) it isn't viable to offer flat rate shipping for this service at present, so instead we have a live quoting system. Here's the deal highlights:

Some helpful info:

    haha I hear you, the launch is for same day delivery as dispatch, we're at full dispatch capacity today. Given that Friday and Monday are public holidays (delivery companies don't work on PH) our next available dispatch is Tuesday (until that gets to dispatch capacity). If you're in one of the areas with same day delivery as dispatch available your fresh coffee could be dispatched and delivered on Tuesday :)

  • HI Tom, great info and offer, but please don't use green and red as the indicator colours in your calendar. It makes it so hard for many colourblind people (about 8% of men in Australia), especially small thin-bodied text. Bold, or some other styling is much more helpful for a broader range of the population.

      Really appreciate you taking the time to provide this most helpful feedback!

      I'll start working on a solution now (unfortunately it's not as easy as selecting "bold" which is why it may not be an instant fix). In the meantime, when you hover over an unavailable date the computer cursor will be an arrow and when you hover over an available date the computer cursor will be a pointing finger; I know this doesn't help with mobile orders :)

        Thanks for engaging with this:) Depending on how the calendar is generated, you might find that using some custom css to target the styling of the numbers might be a way of overriding the existing/baked-in styling.

          Sure thing Bloomer, appreciate the further feedback. We're always all ears for customer feedback, can't guarantee it will always result in change, but we will listen and makes changes if it works from all sides of the table.

          In this instance I'm happy to say I've hopefully been able to tweak our system to address your feedback and make for a better Lime Blue ordering experience for everyone at the same time. If you have the time please check out these three screenshots:

          2) When ordering via a computer/using a cursor, if you hover over an available date, in addition to the cursor still changing to a pointing hand the circle will also become lightly shaded in.       Nice planning ahead. For the time being our delayed dispatch feature is just for a few months ahead at a time. This is due to a few reasons, continued volatility of coffee prices, so we can easily change dispatch dates upon customer requests and …. Without getting into too much detail if we take delayed/scheduled dispatch orders too far in advance it makes it a bit trickier to edit (something we're working on further improving) the dispatch date if a customer needs a change. What I'd suggest is hold tight and cross your fingers that we have another Moments deal in July (no promises) or place your order now requesting a scheduled dispatch for the last Friday in June, then the week before just send an email to [email protected] requesting the dispatch date be pushed out (know this is a bit of extra leg work for you :)

      I'll leave your first question for someone else to answer…

      We 100% can grind your fresh coffee to suit plunger, just select Ground Filter and write "Plunger" in you "special instructions for seller" box on the cart page :)

    • I have found limeblue to be loads better. Have ordered two types from Airjo and currently on the fbc with limeblue. Dont see myself going back to airjo unless the deals stop coming from limeblue

    • I ordered Airjo's Sumatra and Moments from Lime. To be honest, I much rather preferred Moments, but my wife is a Sumatra fan.. It depends on what sort of blend you like, and how you extract it. We both have our own settings and a different way to extract, and both of us can't stand each others pull.

    I went through your other coffee offerings trying to find a coffee on the other end of the fruit-chocolate scale and noticed a few of them are missing this tag. Do you have any natural fruity coffee offerings?

      Thank you so much for that terrific compliment, descriptions are one of the areas we continue to look at tweaking based on customer feedback to improve the ordering experience. The fruit-chocolate scale is the most recent addition (hence why it wasn't on all products, now it is, thanks). After a customer asked for some more flavour info I came up with the idea of the scale to further enhance our unique coffee descriptions.

      We have 3 different Single Origin coffees that I believe are right up your alley. None of which are currently available on our site… No promises, but feel free to shoot off an email to [email protected] and we'll see what we can do for you :)

      It should get to you next week from VIC, however shorter weeks are always a bit of a curve ball for delivery companies, so it could be early the week after. If you're going away next week and will be back the week after perhaps dispatch next Friday the 22nd may be the best bet for you :)

      p.s. we do have an Express Post shipping option available, granted it does cost more, but may alleviate your need to think about whether your order will arrive before you go out of town.

  • First time buyer. Ordered on the 15th for a ship out on Tuesday 19th hoping to receive before the long weekend, but only received it today Wednesday 27th. My friend in the same city received his order last Friday 22nd. Had to go buy beans urgently, which I now need to finish first before opening these Lime Blue ones, so the LB beans won't be as fresh anymore.

    I know I can only blame Aus Post, but I don't think I will be taking this gamble again. Just my personal experience, and info on how random Aus Post are right now. Obviously others have had no problems.

Shorter weeks due to public holidays are usually a bit of a spanner in the works for delivery companies and the last 3 weeks have all been short 4 business day weeks. I'm not saying there wasn't a sorting facility/logistics issue with Australia Post (you'd have to send a reply email to your order confirmation for me to have to look at your tracking and find that out), I'm just saying public holidays impact all delivery companies in one way or another.

      I'd highly recommend that you put your LB Coffee in the freezer ASAP, this should ensure that you still get to enjoy it nice and fresh when you're ready.

      I hope you love our coffee enough that you decide to order from us again :)

      p.s. at the checkout you're able to specifically choose a different delivery company to Australia Post if you're generally not a fan of them. We also have Express and Same Day as Dispatch delivery options if you need the good stuff ASAP.

      • Thanks. You don't need to investigate. I've already compared my tracking history against my friend's one and for some reason mine gets left at Sunshine DC for longer.

        I have been ordering Airjo which always do free express, so for the net price I'm sorry I have to go with Airjo… Unless this coffee is significantly better that is.

      Really appreciate you taking the time to provide that frank feedback. From the sounds of it this sounds like channeling (water bypassing the coffee to find the path of least resistance); great news this should be easily fixed with a dose and/or grind setting tweak.

      I can assure you without bias our coffee is high quality from a raw ingredients perspective. The roast profiles we create strive to create balance of flavour (bitterness should not be overpowering the flavour) and body (shouldn't be lacking or too heavy). We always send our coffee out freshly roasted, striving to dispatch orders within 48 business hours of roasting. I know I can't promise our coffee will suit you personally from a flavour perspective, but I can promise the above three points aim to put out best foot forward with a high quality product.

      As mentioned I believe we can fix the extraction you experienced by reducing the bitterness and increase the body significantly via a few small tweak of your equipment. That way you'll be able to taste a decent representation of our Moments to Memories blend, from there you'll know if you enjoy it or not :) When you get the time please send a reply email to your order confirmation with as much of the following as possible:

      1) What make and model is your coffee equipment?
      2) We have brew guides on our bags, but do know people sometimes like to make their own recipe. Please let me know how much coffee you're dosing into the basket, how much expresso you're extraction and how long the extraction is (including any pre-infusion time if applicable)?
      3) If making espresso style coffee (assumed from your comment), please send a photo of the coffee puck in the basket right after extraction and another photo of how it looks knocked out of the basket after extraction?
      4) Please send through a video of the extraction too, if possible this would most helpful

      I know the above asks a lot, but if you get a delicious coffee then it's worth it. I hope you have a terrific week :)

        Thank you for the informative reply. Agree regarding channelling however the result was a consistent despite grind setting tweaks and manual tamping. The appearance of the beans is dry without any sheen or gloss. Beans stored in Airscape container once bag was opened.
        In response to your questions:
        1) Breville, the Barista Pro.
        2) Generally dosing 18g-20g with 8s pre-infusion.
        3) Will share photos.
        4) Video sharing might be difficult but will give it a go.
