Haven't seen it this cheap in quite a while.
It was apparently $49 at Amazon back in November, but this is still a good price.

It's been entirely remade from scratch for the PS5. It's like calling the Resident Evil 2 remake a 1998 game.
Let me preface this by saying I don't agree with the personally you replied to regarding the pricing, but if they have already played the original, I do see their point.
Demons Souls PS5 plays the exact same as the original PS3 game from 2009 (As it is a 99.9% faithful remake). If you didn't care about the graphical improvements, you would get nearly the exact same experience if you played the original game.
Because of this (I'm not saying this is nessisarily a bad thing keep in mind, some people prefer a remake to play the exact same way) it's boss fights and level design do not hold up very well compared to FromSofts later games like Dark Souls, Sekiro and Elden Ring. Fights like Dragon God would have massively benefited from a reimaginging, they just don't hold up well at all in my opinion.
It does not add anything to the actual gameplay experience outside of faster loading times, a better framerate and a few other minor QOL improvements such as being able to send items to your chest when your inventory is full.
The Resident Evil 2 remake is more of a reimaginging in terms of gameplay than a remake, it plays completely differently to the original game.
I'm not saying Demon's Souls PS5 shouldn't be sold at the price it is, I happily brought it at launch and don't regret it, but Resident Evil 2 Remake and Demon's Souls PS5 are not the same thing at all.
It’s the best game I’ve played on the PS5 and felt like a new game to me from the original. It’s not just QOL improvements it’s a remake not a remaster. I just finished Elden Ring and while it was a brilliant game Demon Souls has superior next gen graphics. I haven’t felt next gen while playing anything else on the PS5 yet.
@bindok: Did you read my comment? I said it plays nearly the exact same, I didn't say it looked the same.
It's looks like a 2020 game but plays like a 2009 game, because it is one at its core.
In terms of gameplay I would rank it at the bottom of the FromSoft games I have played, it was the first Souls game and it really shows. Do you honestly think the boss fights hold up? They are all easy and the gimmick bosses (Dragon God, Storm King etc) especially could have really benefited from a redesign.
@Vinodra: Well atleast there's something we can agree on - boss fights are easiest compared to other souls games. If I hadn't played / known about the original on my PS3, I would have definitely felt like this was a new game released in 2020.
This is the remake - released in 2020
Ah nothing like you always being negative yet haven't posted a bargain yourself.
Not apparently, I bought it back in Nov for $49. And I'm still struggling to get into it lol. Thinking of trading in for Elden Ring instead.
If you don't like souls games, you probably won't like Elden Ring either. I couldn't get into Demon's Souls but still went ahead with getting Elden Ring due to the acclaim it is receiving. Couldn't get into it like Demon's Souls.
It is not to say they are terrible games, they just weren't for me and the types of games I play. They look great on PS5 though.
I actually did hate Soul games, haven't play even once after all the video review but might be due to the difference of Elden ring being open world nature…it makes me addicted got the platinum trophy for the Elden ring…
That's quite surprising you would say that. I wasn't able to get into any of the DS games or Sekiro - mainly due to difficulty. But love open world games, did you have to follow a guide extensively?
I jumped on that deal too, finally just got into it and finished it - probably time to sell it at near Breakeven price which would be cool
How far did you get? The hardest part is getting used to the 'souls game' style. I absolutely hated it for the first few hours. It felt like I was just dying and doing it over and over again. But when you beat the first boss the world opens up a lot. When I beat the 2nd boss I had a good hang of things and started loving it.
But skimming some not so spoilery walkthroughs are really useful though. Like you need some info like "First thing is get the cling ring. Then after the first boss go farm 4-1 for a bit until you get the Falchion. Then you're good."
Hmm might still wait for sub $50
clocked in 50 hours on Elden Ring so far and wouldn't be surprised to clock in atleast another 20 - 30 or so to finish the game, I'll wait a bit more for it to drop down closer to historical low and grab this one.
haven't even finished Sekiro yet lol
is this a remastered version of the PS3 version of demon souls
Yes
It's a remake.
I finished this after Elden Ring, and honestly although I somewhat enjoyed it, and the game has a lot of really nice nextgen touches, it does feel like a weak entry in the series (and it was the first, so that checks out). Most fights are trivial once you work out the gimmick of the fight and there is a lot less emphasis on execution being a challenge in itself, like it is in Elden Ring.
If anyone is looking for something after ER I strongly recommend Sekiro, DS3 or Bloodborne.
Demon's Souls (PS5)
Bloodborne (PS4)
Dark Souls series (PS4)
Elden Ring (PS5)
question for all experienced souls games players, what is the best order for a new player to play these souls games?
elden ring is probably the most accessible to new comers
Order I would recommend for most accessible would:
1. Elden Ring
2. Demon's Souls
3. Dark Souls Trilogy
4. Bloodborne
5. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Price matching HN for those wondering.
