Got around to playing Nioh during the very first lockdown of 2020. Highly recommended for FromSoftware fans.

    There's a Nioh 2?

    • +1

Yes, awesome improvements to Nioh 1. Definitely recommend.

Played the first one of these from PS+ a while back. Great game. Surprised they didn't get sued by From Software, though! :P It is VERY Souls-y.

    • It's basically a Souls game with a Ghost of Tsushima story and lore. Never finished it but definitely an excellent game

    • Other way round - Ninja Gaiden came out 5 years before demons souls

      • +1

Yeah, but Ninja Gaiden is not really anything like Demon's Souls, apart from being difficult. Ninja Gaiden is a 3rd person action / adventure game, more along the lines of God of War and Devil May Cry. Nioh, on the other hand, is an action RPG that is almost identical in both combat (albeit with some tweaks like different stances) and structure to the Souls games.

I'm sorry that Detective Barbie was never released on PS5 for you

    • Let me guess. You enjoy COD?

  • Is this anything like dynasty warriors? I love button smashing and grinding

    • Haha, button mashing and grinding this ain't.

This is a souls-clone, but not a bad one

  • Pro from software games fan. Finished all soulsborne games with ng++ several times without any sweat.
But I found the bosses and combat mechanics more challenging than souls series.

Too compelled to buy. But afraid of disappointment again.

    • There's a bit of lazy boss design in Nioh sometimes, where difficulty is achieved by simply throwing in a tonne of enemies.

But not bad, Nioh 2 had interesting mechanics

  • Play Nioh but really just burnt me out.. you can be 80% through the content and if you die, you start all over again.

Be nice to have a rest point 50% through each stage.

    Amazing graphic and very atmospheric.

But as someone mentioned, the design did get lazy and difficulties = just throwing a bunch of enemies at you with a hard to reach archer adding to your misery.
