Product page for anyone interested: http://www.oralb.com.au/products/triumph5000/

Anyone have comments on the device?

    • I have been trying to work out if this is the same product or not. Looking on Google this appears to be the Oral-B Triumph™ ProfessionalCare® 9000 Series, which I can not find on the Australian Website (and does not appear to be eligible for the cash back?).
Someone else who knows more about these toothbrushes may be able to clarify though.
edit: Just realised I am probably reading into the picture way to much, unfortunate the site doesn't clarify with a model number though.

I have the 5000, which looks the same as on the oral B site, not the chemist warehouse. Good toothbrush if you ask me. From memory it also came with a decent number of heads….I think it was a trial pack with four different variants. That alone saves you a bit. The smart guide is a nice gimmick and really is just a nice timer to make sure you brush for a few minutes as well as serving to be a bathroom clock. Currently I don't use it a lot.

anyway, I certainly recommend the brush but.

      • 3 heads actually… one was a floss-action thing, one used for whitening, one for sensitive gums.

I only use the smart guide as a bathroom clock haha

      • smart guide is what won me among other things, looks good always needed one

    • Bought the 5000 for 138.99 last year @CW, too. The $50 rebate promotion was also on at the time.

3 heads were included, a plastic casing for the heads is connected to the base, so it' slightly different from the picture in CW now.

Cash could be withdrawn from the Citibank cash card, even from a Westpac ATM without any banking charges.

The only downside is the noise, which wouldn't be very much liked by the next-door neighbour in a unit at late nights.

Not sure how its performance compares to a Sonic brush from Philips, heard the Philips ones are good, but heads are more expensive, tempted for the sonic function, curious about how sonic could outperform.

My dentist told me that I was brushing too hard before I purchased it. One of the functions of this brush is to warn you with sound and flashing red light when you are brushing too hard, which is useful to me.

    • oh . sorry cheesestringer . i was looking at the exact same thing .

  • cheapchip - you do know that you can do a full refund with your MYER one right ?… unless you already decided to go ahead and use it last night… (wondering how that works, cos normally one would charge up the device fully over night as any electronic device should need) …

anyway… it is a really really good toothbrush imho.. didn't believe it at first. as i've been using $2.5.. most expensive brush i had was that oral b cross action whatever it is for $7bucks.. but yeah.. use the 5K and you come out everytime feeling as if you just visited the dentist.. sparklingly clean.. in fact so clean you don't wanna eat anything to damage your cleanliness.

    ;)

Yea I know but I was impatient… used it after an hour's charge. Batts ran out before I was done brushing :S

      • -1

How can they tell if you've used it or not if you thoroughly cleaned the head and put it back in properly and they have to cope with the weekends queue? good luck ;)

        • +1

Honestly, for hygene products I'd hope their policy would be to not accept refunds if the box was opened unless the product is damaged. Certainly many stores have such a policy. Even if it isn't used per-se, it may not be fit for resale.

      • Well if $159 was the sticker price you paid then thats still not too bad after the $50 redemption. I think I paid close to $150 two years ago.

On the topic of this, it's effin' 2012. We have cures for numerous diseases once thought incurable. We can replace someone's heart. We can open your brain and take out a giant lump of neoplasm, while you're awake the entire operation. Why the hell do we still have to brush our teeth?

    • Even with private health care, it's expensive to see a dentist… so whatever it takes to minimize plague, cavities etc. Prevention better than cure

    • +3

You still need to exercise and eat well to remain healthy as well. I'm sure if you have the money you can find a way to get by without brushing, even if it means getting fake teeth along the way.

      • I'm sure if you have the money you can find a way to get by without brushing

        Point me to it, then.

I bought this a couple of months ago(also from CW), and I am really glad I did. Mainly because I am very impatient, and I've never been good at making sure I brush for the full 2 minutes. So the timer is really good for me, it makes it a lot easier to know how long you have been brushing, and generally just making sure you brush enough. It gives you 30 seconds on each of the 4 jaw sides (2 min). After 30 seconds, it stops rotating for a split second to communicate that you have brushed enough on the jaw side you are currently brushing.

After using an electric toothbrush the mouth also feels more clean IMO.

Also I used to easily get build up on my teeth, but after I got this it seems to not come as fast as before.

Bottom line, I recommend this ESPECIALLY if you are impatient and usually don't brush for the full 2 minutes.

    • +1

That may be because you're actually brushing for longer?
A manual toothbrush with the correct method of brushing has no or negligible difference to an electric toothbrush when used for the same period of time.

I still haven't opened my Triumph which I got for free…

      • still have mine from the oral-b rep… love every 2mins i have with it. I always recommend this specific kit for my patients if they are keen on spending this sort of money on an electric t/b.

At the end of the day, doesn't matter how long you brush (2mins+ minimum)… it's how you brush. Surely you can spend 5mins brushing but if someone does it for 2mins properly, evidently they're going to have a cleaner mouth.

        • +1

          True.
I think I made the mistake of assuming he/she uses the correct method of brushing while brushing for less than 2 minutes.

(Being the stinger that I am) I'd just recommend them use an electric toothbrush that has pressure feedback (so they don't brush too hard) and get them to use a 30 second hourglass timer to time each quadrant xD

  • Time to get a spare one although my 3~4 year old Triumph still working great. thanks.

  • Thanks just bought one. I've been wanting to get a good electric tooth brush for a couple months now and finally Ozbargain has answered my calls. Thanks again!

  • the T&C mentioned purchased from any retailer nationally, does this applies to online purchase too ?

    • As long as it's supplied with a tax invoice I would think. You need to send in a copy of the proof of purchase to claim the gift card.

  • +1

Just a note to anyone, this isnt really $50 Cashback its $50 on a prepaid card which you HAVE to spend to get "some money back".

    • -1

But it's on a visa so it's basically like having cash.

    • +2

I received a Citbank prepaid card from the last cashback. I was able to draw money out at a Citibank ATM.

      • I stand corrected then, ive been burnt with these "cards" before on an Acer Aspire deal, had to waste the 50 at a retail store paying near full price and negating my bargain :)

        • If the card is not linked to a store I'd just use it for groceries at Coles or Woolies. Only thing lost is the frequent flyer points I would get when using my regular CC.

  • +4

Damn you OzBargain and your convincing arguments :P

  • For those wondering whether this is the 5000, according to the picture in the current catalogue, it is.

  • My local CW had little cashback tags next to the pricetag if that helps convince anyone.

  • Picked one up for $139 via price matching at Harvey Norman
Price was marked at $199 … then I showed a print out of the CW website, he said lowest he could do was $149.
Still said I would just go to CW instead, but he "asked his manager" and agreed to sell at $139.

  • Is the battery replacable? I'd prefer to have e-toothbrush running on AA batteries so I can replace the batteries instead of charging them in the bathroom. I hate having cable dangling in my bathroom

    • No is the answer that keeps them selling more toothbrushes.

    • I find it lasts a while on a single charge, so you can put the charger away if you want and only pull it out once a week or once a fortnight. The battery meter on the front will let you know when its getting low in advance too.

  • this sounds bloody awesome for its price, awesome features and cool different displays, dream toothbrush

  • Hey,

has anyone got a copy of their receipt? does it show the model in the receipt from the website? ie matching the right toothbrush on the t&c?

JUst i know chemistwarehouse does some greyimports… that might not be included?

    just guessing…

    • It shows Oral-b triumph with smartguide. No model number but I guess it fine.

  • Thanks for this. Needed a new goo quality toothbrush. Price matched with GG's hehe ;)

  • I too have bought this awesome toothbrush today. What I have noticed is that the charging process seems to be quite slow. This thing has been sitting in the charger since around 12noon today and only managed to charge 2 bars. How long does it take to get FULL charge??

    • Did it ever stop flashing and fully charge?

  • Purchased one, but for some reason my unit on the handle has LEDs rather than LCD screen … there different revisions of this unit?

    • I believe that's the newer version, same as what I bought.

    • Be careful. Thats the PC5000 with smart guide and is not part of rebate. Only IQ5000 is.

      • Checked my receipt, just in case. It does quote "IQ5000" so I should be fine. I did see both the brushes with LCD screens on the handle and the one with the LED on the handle. The LCD packing were worn and had a earlier copyright year stamped on them, mine had 2010 - so I thought it must be newer stock.

        • Thanks for letting me know. My receipt says the same but was a PC5000. I called P&G and they advised two different models but said LCD was newer. I would trust your theory more if the copyright on LCD is older than 2010.

        • This ebay add http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Braun-Oral-B-Triumph-5000-SmartGu… says "Now In New Packaging
With LED Handle Display", indicating that this is the newer version as well.

        • Mine doesnt say any number on the receipt but its exactly the same as what's on the cashback form.

  • Does anyone know where the receipt number is from the Chemist Warehouse receipt? Is it the RRN?

  • Temporarily Out of Stock !!!

    • been like that since yesterday arvo- wanted to get good guys to price match but dont think they will do it now

  • Back in stock!

  • Anyone care to take a photo of their receipt from an "instore" purchase?

  • So what is the latest model: the one with LED lights on the handle, or the one with the LCD screen on the handle? Are both types eligible for the $50 cash back/visa card promo?

  • Just came back from Myers. They are having a Mother's Day Special all selling this for $159.

    • Pricematch a CW that has stock , then use the gift card promo for more discount.

      • I got Myer to pricematch CW and they were happy to do that. Used gift card promo so the effective price I paid $129.99 and with $50 visa gift card it will be $79.99. Thanks OP!

        • Which CW had stock? I'm looking for stock in Sydney to PM with.

          Thanks.

        • +1

I show them print out of online CW price and the salesman had no issues matching that price.

  • I just picked two of these at Myer Liverpool (NSW) for $149 each. I pricematched with CW, but $149 is apparently their "cost" price, and the lowest they could go down to.

I combined that with the Myer gift card deal so it ends up being almost the same price as CW (before cashback).

  • Myers wouldnt price match for me either said it was below their cost

    • Try Big W, they did :-)
