Only downside is how loud the switch/click sound is when it changes from colour/night. Tempted to buy a second one.

    • May I ask why you would need two?

      • More than one child?

        • We just bought our second. The last time purchased was $314 which I believe was previous lowest

I prefer the Arlo Baby Cam. Much cheaper and goes strong for years now! You don't need any paid subscription to run them.

    • They stopped making Arlo Baby cams a while ago. Pretty impossible to find them now.

      • Buy them used on eBay.

  • Yet to have a little one but looking at these sorts of things. Anyone have experience with this that can give a comparison to similar products?

Reviews on Amazon seems to be very hit or miss with their experience

Owned one and the video features is a drawback.

  • +1

Includes 1 year free Cubo Ai Care Premium to help save every moment.

So you'll need to buy their subscription after 1 year?
Would a regular indoor cam (like eufy) and one of those monitor pads be better?

    • +1

we have one and it went past the year. We didn't get spammed to upgrade etc and it seems like they don't push/market the subscription very hard. We haven't found it to be a requirement. The biggest "difference" we've found is that your sleep analytics are "day of" only, you can't look back on history and the other one is not storing videos past i think maybe 7 days?

We only use ours as a sleep monitor so it doesn't make a big difference for us but some parents i believe use them as room/baby area monitors so in those cases maybe you'd be more interested in the footage that is extracted + storage time.

      • I rely on other apps to track sleep.

        • haha, yeah the mrs uses an app for tracking sleep outside of cubo as well. i can't attest to how accurate it is as we don't really look at it, if they're not crying then we assume they're sleeping.

there are times when they might be just playing in the crib so definitely depends on how the little one is

it also helps to get movement/rollover alerts in the morning as it gives you a 5 minute warning to go to the toilet

    • -2

Yes. U need to buy their subscription. I think regular cam wouldn't give u warning if your bud face down or cry at night. Besides, i haven't use other cam yet. YT it for baby monitors comparison and u will get more details

      • +1

You don’t need subscription for roll over/covered face alerts

      • I have this camera and you're wrong. The subscription is just for keeping memories/pictures/videos/logs going back further than a few days. If you are using it to monitor your baby and aren't hardcore keeping logs of sleep patterns etc this is a great camera.

To be clear: You absolutely do not need the subscription to use this camera as a daily driver. Sub only required if you want to keep lengthy records stored over time. If you're happy for them to lapse after 3 or so days, you can forego the sub.

    • I had the same thought, i couldn't easily find the pricing on the cubio website either..

From a 2020 article "You get one-day sleep reports for free, but if you want to view historical reports with 30 days of sleep data, you have to subscribe to the Cubo AI Plus Premium plan for $8 per month, $45 for six months, or $80 for one year."

So be aware there is an ongoing cost of you want the features

  • Anyone know of a similar monitor for $150?

    • Honestly, a normal baby monitor is perfectly fine. I'd recommend something that can rotate and has a separate monitor (while it seems like a good idea using your phone, a separate monitor is actually much better).

      • While I don't have any experience with this particular monitor and am not making comparisons about the merit of the two products against each other, they're really apples to oranges comparison and you'll need to decide how each different type might "suit" into your routine/lifestyle.

I haven't used the home only based ones personally so my following comments are only able to slightly touch upon what i may perceive as potentially "decision changing" functions.

The Cubo connecting to wifi as with all "smart"devices nowadays comes with all the positives and negatives of an internet connected device. The positives that we've had and that factored heavily into decision making included
        1) ability to share video feed with others
        2) ability to use any "smart" device to view feed

number 1 above was particularly important especially during covid times, family not being able to visit and letting them be able to check in whenever they wanted was a bonus. This may be less important in the coming years.

You can disable audio feed or restrict who can see history etc. You can however only invite 7 unique users to your account, but your user/pass combo can be used on any number of devices. The links are supposed to be secure and you cannot view it on a PC/mac, it has to be app based with an invite, increasing security but decreasing flexibility. A home only option wouldn't allow you these features and when shopping around, similarly internet connected devices cost around $300 mark. Admittedly I haven't been monitoring them for specials etc and the comparison is a full priced camera vs cubo that is heavily discounted. I don't know what price similarly featured alternatives go down to on special.

number 2 is useful as it means you can be doing anything and ask google to call up the stream on your device when you get a notification, or when you're out and above you can still use the stream/get alerts etc. I have enough issues with mrs not charging phone to not need another device that needs charging and won't work otherwise. There may be "alternative" usage patterns that would work around and potentially we "fed" into this usage pattern due to the availability but it was useful for the mrs to be out and about and have a good idea when she may need to return to feed etc.

with all the above, if you dont have reliable internet this product may not be for you. if your internet is down for a few hours during nighttime it will definitely be a nuisance. The app lets you know it's no longer connected. Personally this wasn't an issue, but definitely something to consider

        • Fair points, and it's pros and cons of course. We thought wifi was the obvious choice until we spent a few years with wifi monitor and a few years with non-wifi monitor.

I don't see how it's an apples an oranges comparison though, it's basically a baby monitor with a few extra smart features. Which has pros and cons in themselves.

Either way, the monitors which tries to detect and warn if your baby is breathing or on their stomach etc are always more expensive. And can often cause more stress than anything with false alarms etc (which again is a matter of opinion). And for the $150 budget, you should definitely just aim for a good "normal" monitor.

          • @fruxo: yes perhaps it's not fair to call it apples and oranges :D maybe it's burger vs burger with the lot.

potentially with anyone on the fence, look into some baby monitors that come with the monitor itself and can function without internet, plus add internet if required. I am not sure if those apps cost money and how well they work but those will probably allow you to "tweak" your usage style more

we basically ignore the roll over alerts now except for when they come fast and furious which usually means someone is waking up :D

your point about the stress levels certainly is very valid, partner was very concerned about sids risks so the monitor probably matched the mentality. if you're more relaxed and you get this, you'll get increased stress as a result and likewise if you're a stressed type and don't get this then you might be missing out on downtime :D

We've used a few baby monitors over the years, but this is the one we've had the last year and a half. It was a gamble, but it has been working perfectly. Not once dropped connection. Good battery life etc. For under $100, it's certainly not a bad option. It's obviously "just" a baby monitor, but you really don't need the other type.
      https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B08R5YGMF8

The only flaw is the way it rotates. It can spin 360 around, and it can spin up. But NOT down. So if you mount it on the wall or ceiling, you get a perfect view of the entire room. But if it's sitting flat, you can't view below the height of the camera is that makes sense. As we didn't want to mount it, we simply put it on a camera stand and tilted the stand slightly. Not a big issue, but just something to be aware of.

      • Yeah I've been using this idoo one for a few weeks too and can't fault it.

      • Also been using the iDOO Video Baby Monitor. Had t for 9 months, works very well. Very easy, no internet required.

  • Sweet this is $70 better than when I bought it a week ago - time to rebuy and return the old one. Thanks OP!

    • Thats what i did too.. paid 400 and got it a week ago.

  • Thanks OP.

Literally decided to buy one of these last night as bub is moving into his own room soon so was looking for a deal and BAM cheapest price ever plus 10% cash back from Shopback

    • Are you sure you get 10% back? I believe this falls under baby category which is 0%

      • Oh really? To be honest I just saw 'Amazon 10% cashback' and clicked, didn't really look into it much.

        Still a great deal without.

      • It’s 0% Cashback because it’s under the baby category…

Make sure you only get from Amazon and not direct.

Mine stopped working after a year. Contacted Cubo directly for warranty or repair options - was told they would not cover it since it's been just over a year and instead offered I get a refurbished unit at a discounted price (paid shipping too) OR return ship my unit to them at own cost to Korea for repairs (chargeable for repairs too).

I went back to Amazon and got a full refund instead so buyers beware.

Will it still work if my baby is not smart, or only work for smart babies?

  • +1

Main benefit is first 6months, when the baby is swaddled/wrapped, the AI works really well.
But after 6months, get use to stupid alerts all the time because it thinks turn a head or moving a arm is dangerous.

Also protip, sticky tap some paper over the back light.

    • you can turn the light off in the app :D

    • sticky tape the baby

  • Using what code?

I;m viewing the listing its saying $374.00

  • How to get the $70 off? Can't seem to see the coupon.

    • You beat me by 2 seconds =)

      • They removed the coupon. You missed out :(

  • This is a brilliant camera. Bought one a year ago for our bub and it's been bulletproof.
