Receiving Mobile Phone Delivery, Tips Please

Hi all,
Just ordered my first phone from overseas and just wanted some tips about what to do when receiving package, just in case there are any issues?
Would really appreciate any advice from the experts! Thanks.

UPDATE: Thanks for those with helpful comments. Videotaped opening package and genuine phone received (after lots of googling, comparing and videos) all in working order.

Cross fingers it works and you don’t need to claim warranty.

Order Screen protectors and Cases so it is there when it arrives. I did this for my cheap Redmi C3 phone. Installation was easy the moment you put the screen protector the same day you unbox it.

    • It didn’t come with one out of the box? All the recent Xiaomi phones I have gotten have all come with a screen saver installed and a phone case in the box.

      • There’s a preinstalled one already on it but I’ve attempted to remove it to no avail. The Optus store had demo units and no fingernail could remove the original preinstalled one. It was destined to be permanently scuffed and I doubt the adhesive from it can be easily removed. And so I doubled up on screen protectors. The preinstalled one on the Realme C3 isn’t tempered glass protection by the way.

As seen here on Youtube they needed to heat up the phone and use a sharp Stanley knife.

Knowing from where may help determine your chances…

    • From HK, it's waiting at a pickup point store

wanted some tips about what to do when receiving package

Put the package in the bucket of water for a few days. Will help kill the 'rona on it and any tracking devices the feds put on the package.

…then into the microwave for quick charge.

  • Did you get international warranty?f not then don't worry about anything as your up the river and it's flooding.

What phone did you get and was it "new"? I wouldn't trust overseas anymore, most of them are used/refurbished and repackaged as new.

    • Samsung A52s 8g/256g new - this model is not offered in Oz

hope you got a good deal, otherwise sorry to say hk stock is notorious for selling repackaged used phones disguised as new. High chance its been used before, but check if it comes with the factory protective film on the side, if it does then its probably new, otherwise high chance its used still in excellent condition.

Have a look at this, both were 'brand new' and sealed. However left one was used, repackaged, reboxed and relabeled/sealed by some cunning shop. Their packaging is 95% the same as original(hats off too them) but next to each other you'll tell its an inferior packaging https://imgur.com/a/KmKAmHa

  • what to do when receiving package

    1) Open it and take out the phone.

    2) Play with phone.

You bought it from overseas so don't expect a warranty so keep your fingers crossed that it works and has all the necessary Australian bands installed.

Type up a draft of “ordered a phone from OS and it’s (profanity) already” for when the inevitable happens and you can post about it on ozbargain.
