WR 30m. Steam will cause condensation inside this watch

watch face is nice. The strap, not so much. Replace with a steel bracelet and it will be stunning.

Agree, a great looking watch. And agree, awful strap. But that's ok. Straps are fun to replace. I think a nice leather one over steel for this but thats just me.

Ew, it looked ok in the thumbnail but up close it's like dead mouse fur.

    • Slightly different face in following link. Though, I prefer this white one.

Thanks for the link! Was eyeing this one off a month ago when it was $499 at Linda & Co. Looking forward to replacing a German Automatik that died after 10 years.

  • Just out of curiosity do u guys know a good place to buy straps and how to find out what size I need.

    • Yea im interested as well if anyone knows.

    • Check out strapcode.com . I recently bought a bracelet for a Seiko and it’s top quality fit and finish. It’s a bit pricey though
Search in YouTube, there are heaps of videos on watch straps

Agree with this. There is also Uncle Seiko which I hear is well-regarded but I haven't used.

Research the specs of your watch. If it's a very common model, likely strapcode have a specific strap for that model, e.g. a SARB017. If not a common model, figure out the specs of the lugs and band that you have and see if there are common-model equivalents from strapcode. Many Seikos share strap specs - in some cases strapcode themselves will confirm that a strap works for multiple models, in other cases users will report success with other models.

re size, I think most strapcodes are one size only because they are mostly (only?) steel bands, and obviously you remove unneeded links. If you haven't done so, buy a set of small screwdrivers so you can change links at home yourself - complete waste of time and money asking a jeweller to do it, especially if your wrist swells in Summer.

Once you have your model and you've chosen your link types and brushwork, you can actually search for these bands on Amazon. Part of the issue with strapcode is simply because they are shipping from OS and you pay for that, whereas you might find it on Amazon with free shipping. Note that Amazon typically refer to these bands as "MilTAT", but MilTAT and strapcode are the same company.

Be prepared to pay approx AUD 100 for a steel band, but they are FAR superior to all of the standard Seiko offerings (sub $1000). Makes a world of difference I promise - I think I've replaced 5 Seiko bands with MilTAT, especially those ordinary leather deployant clasps they put on the Cocktail time pieces. The MilTAT are on the chunkier side, but they also do milanese bracelets and softer types. They use screws not pin/collar, which is better again.
