On sale is this USB 3.0 Switch that acts similar to a KVM switch in that you can share 4 USB 3.0 peripherals such as a printer, mouse, keyboard, USB flash drive etc. between two computers and switch between them with a press of a button. Unlike other brands this one comes with an external button on a long USB-C cable to make it easier to switch between computers.

Edit: Discount may only show for AliExpress members above Silver (e.g. Gold, Platinum and Diamond).

As an example I currently have one connected to my Windows PC and the other to my Mac so I can use the same keyboard and mouse between both computers. I simply press the button and the keyboard/mouse works with the Windows PC and press it again to switch control to the Mac.

If you're wanting to run something that requires more power (e.g. external HDD with power adaptor) there's a micro USB port on the back that you can hook up to a charger.

Then a currency conversion brings it to $19.61 AUD.

If you set your currency to AUD on AliExpress or let PayPal do the conversion you're going to get an inflated rate. If you have a card without currency conversion fees add it to PayPal, set AliExpress to USD and when checking out in PayPal select that card and set it to bill in USD. Then you'll get close to the exchange rate within a cent or 2.

Even when switching to USD, I'm seeing $16.84 for the USB 3.0 KVM and $10.29 for the USB 2.0 KVM after the $1US coupon… Am I missing something?

        • I'm seeing $16.84

          yep, same….

        • Are you signed into your AliExpress account? I notice when I check incognito (or signed out) the price is different.

          • @Clear: Tried both signed in and signed out. No change.

Weirdly in an Incognito window, it became more expensive ($19.54USD) :/

            • @ozb88: So you don't see the Member Price in the screenshot I've now linked?

                • @jv: Interesting. Do you know what your AliExpress member level is? Are you Silver, Gold or Platinum? I'm Diamond so maybe it's a higher discount based on that.

                    Silver Member

              • @Clear: I don't unfortunately. My "Member Price" is showing up as $17.84

                • @ozb88: Looks like the discount varies by you member level

                  • @jv: Didn't realise AliExpress had member level. I rarely buy things off there, so that would explain it.

@ozb88: The only real benefits are that AliExpress will side with you on disputes more easily, as opposed to a brand new account with almost no orders. A new account is more likely to try and scam them. And the other bonus is occasional coupons. Recently I received a $50 off $200 spend coupon.

Each level requires X amount to have been spent.

                      • @Clear: Makes sense. My wife buys a lot of stuff from AliExpress, I may try and get this from her account

                  • +2

@jv: First time I've seen that happen. I'll seek advice from the mods on how this deal should be appropriately titled.

                    • @Clear: $16.79USD here (I’m a Gold member apparently…)

(Not the final price, just the one on the listing, before gst, etc)

  • If only want to share keyboard and mouse, is the usb 2.0 version sufficient?

    • +1

      Yep.

    • only if you type sloooooooowly…

    • Just remember if you ever want to use the USB ports for anything else, you'll regret this decision. I went with USB 3.0 for the UGreen switcher and was glad I did since I ended up using it to share a webcam and my USB speakers.

  • Any recommendations for any smaller ones with 1 or 2 USB ports. Just need to share my wireless keyboard/mouse dongle between 2 devices.

    • Read reviews before you buy. Some of these interfere somehow with 2.4ghz dongles. I've read that the USB 2.0 versions seem to work better than USB 3.

      • That’s a good point. I am happy with USB 2.0 for sharing keyboard/mouse dongle.

  • I need a version of this that will allow me to switch my docking station between two devices with the touch of a button. Docking station also does 65w PD

  • Any suggestion of a USB C to HDMI device for a HP Laptop USB C 3.1 that only supports data

  • I have the USB 2.0 version and it works well, with the following limitation. I tried sharing audio on my USB powered speakers and it was extremely glitchy. Did not like the bandwidth required I guess.
edit: Should note I'm using lightspeed dongles for keyboard and mouse and it works fine with this.

  • I have this model and it generally works well except sometimes the mouse is switched but not the keyboard(I am using the Ms ergo keyboard and mouse combo, which uses one dongle for both devices).
And the solution is simple: press the button twice to switch again.

    • I read about this issue elsewhere, so I bought the wired version of the ergo keyboard. Seems weird though that there seem to be issues for some people with so many of these switches.

  • I'm seeing A$23.14 at checkout ($24.48 less $1.34 coupon)

    • Seems only Diamond members will get the lowest price.
