A friend purchased 4 Scoopons for Olla Messa in Southbank, Melbourne. The staff told him when he booked that four vouchers were acceptable for four people. The T's & C's say "One voucher valid per person", which sounds as though one voucher is valid per person. But it also says "One voucher valid per booking", which is why he confirmed that it was ok to use four when he booked - it is ambiguous and contradictory and he specifically sought clarification.
It seems they changed their mind when we actually turned up. The same-old (according to other anecdotal evidence on this site) routine occured, where the service was less than exemplary, seemingly linked to the voucher's presentation, but to start with they wouldn't honour it. Then they would, but not for four. Then they would, but we booked one table of four, rather than four tables of one, so only one could be used. If we'd booked deviously, making four bookings rather than one, it would have been ok. They might even have sat us on the same table.
Scoopon said that (and i'm paraphrasing) that they didn't care, because the terms of deal (despite being contraditory, vague and ambiguous) were "One per booking", ignoring the "one per person" line entirely. The matter has been referred to Consumer Affairs.
It was all of our first experience using Scoopon, or any Daily Deal company. It was all of our last experience using Scoopon, or any Daily Deal company. It leads to nothing but dishonesty - on the part of both the restaurants and the company.
I recommend not visiting Olla Messa and not using Scoopon.
which voucher did you use?
was it 1 voucher for 4 people
or
was it a 1 voucher for 1 person only?
