No star on their Facebook post and Facebook Event Page
Why does this make to the main page when this is only available in 1 shop in Australia and very few people in OZB have access to this shop? Whats behind the OZB algorithms? Not complaining just asking.

For the default front page (list), you can read about the front page algorithm. It's not unusual to see deals that are located in one place, e.g. on the 2nd page is [QLD] U91 Petrol $1.589/L, Diesel $1.759/L @ Metro Capalaba.
Deals that reach around 30 votes show on the front page if you have it set to list old.
FAQ: I've seen deals on the front page with less than 30 votes. Why?:
Hot Deals Can Reach the Front Page without Reaching Minimum Votes
We want to bring deals that gain enough momentum, i.e. getting many votes within a short period of time, to rise to the front page even when it has not yet reached the minimum votes (30). Because of the number of deals getting posted everyday, some of really good deals got pushed to page 2 of “New Deals” page within 2-3 hours without gaining sufficient votes. When you are on the 2nd page of “New Deals”, you are not likely to be graced by many users so they might never reach front page…
So we are now using a simple algorithm to determine whether a deal will be on the front page.
let v = positive votes - negative votes (total number of votes). let m = minimum votes (default=30)
A deal will be on the front page if
v >= m, or
v >= m /2 + (current time - deal posting time) / rate
Currently rate is that for every 30 minutes, new deals need one more vote above m /2 to be on the front page. Due to the way rounding works, a deal needsOnly 16 votes to be on the front page within the first 30 minutes
17 votes if it has been posted for more than 30 minutes but less than an hour
18 votes if more than an hour but less than 1 1/2 hours
19 votes if …
m would be different if you have changed your front page minimum votes, but basically that's how it works behind the scene to bring recently posted deals to the front page even when it does not have enough votes.
If you are using the new front page, see How To: Personalise your OzBargain front page/new deals page to see more relevant deals (and less irrelevant ones). For users who want to block say deals in only 1 location, for example Victoria, you can do so using filters.
Ah cool, its because people voting as soon as they see free and ice cream ;) I will try the filters and see how that goes. Thanks for the info.
How much is this normally?
Last time they did this there were huge queues and they ran out of ice cream (unsurprisingly). We were lucky enough to be given vouchers but a lot of people were disappointed… if you're going get in early
Its long queue now. There wasnt any queue at 330pm.
update: the queue is so long right now. down to reading cinemas/underground carpark escalators if you plan on going now, dont bother lol. ends in 1 hour the line looks 2 hours long
