Bought this for $899 a year ago when we moved from a 3bd to 4bd, and I would buy again at that price, so this price now is a steal.
We call him Robbie. He's a part of the family and gets worked harder than anyone.

I've bought a lot from Gearbite over the years and had always been happy. However, I had a Xiaomi vacuum powered head go faulty recently, so I contacted them and after an initial email where they told me to clean the filter, they've since gone radio silent and have ignored two follow up emails trying to get a warranty replacement for the head. I guess, buyer beware.

Please let me know your detail, i will happy to follow up for you, or you can contact us at [email protected].

      • Thank you, I've now replied.

        • Thanks, have sent instructions, please check.

    • The rep is super responsive and will sort things out, can definitely couch for them.

      • +2

Same. They sleep on my couch too

    This or Viomi S9 @ $600?

    • +3

      Love my Roborock S5 Max.
But i would prob go with the ViomiS9, based off the savings + having a auto-empty dock
      Plus specs are quite similar

      • +1

They are but from all accounts the software support is way better on Roborock.

    • +1

$545 if you have EBAY plus

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/174930846787

      • What are these like for long human hair?

Normal brush vacuums get pretty gummed up very fast…

    • +2

Auto Empty Dock all the way.

Roborocks should be $500 now given the age of them.

Viomi s9 and Roidmi Eve Plus are both superior alternatives.

      • In everything except software support apparently.

I got a S5 Max for 500 bucks two years back, and the Viomi and Roidmi look good but from what I've read, software support isn't always the best.

        • I've used the Roidmi and tbh have updated the robot firmware once and never had any issues.
The only teething problem was the first run where it didn't map the whole house.

Second run and the whole house was mapped with zero issues.

Ever since has been a terrific little cleaner.

But I agree that i did have some reservations regarding the firmware

          • @Drakesy: Good to hear :), may look into the Roidmi for next purchase go round. S5 Max is still getting the odd firmware update which is good, got the cross hatch vacuuming with an update a few months ago

      • They certainly held their value well.

I bought a Roborock S5 (original - not Max) over three years ago for $400, and it's been a life changer.

Have barely touched a vacuum or duster ever since.

        Noice….

this is 5 generations behind latest model. with latest you don't have to manually change dust box/water for mopping for two month. I'd rather get the new one.

    • And how much does the latest model cost?

    • I assume you don't have a dog then.

      • tell me more?

    • +3

      Isn't it 2 generations?

    • The newer models were actually stripped down versions of this unit (ie. Pure units) to reduce the price for a wider audience. This is still the kind for carpet suction.

    • 2 months is a long stretch by them. Max I've had was about 6 weeks (I've got 2 cats).

    • I actually agree with this. Regardless of the actual number of generations the newer ones are starting to see new features for not much more. The S9 as someone mentioned below. The ones with the auto empties and what not aren't too far off this price. Similarly there are cheaper alternatives to this like the Dreame line where if someone is only going to buy one or their first vac it would well do the job fine, or like 95% of the job for a fraction of the price. I've got a D9 personally.

And I say this as someone who bought a Mk1 when it was years after the release, but priced accordingly to the alternatives.

It would have been great if ApplianceOnline could match the price but it seems they have recently stopped matching prices (sad news!).

  • Is it ok to buy from third party sellers? Asked one seller and they said they have their own warranty, and don't provide Roborock official warranty. Considering that Roborock official also gives just 1 year warranty, is it worth the risk going with third party sellers?

    • It is Official Australian version which come with Roborock Official Warranty.

      • Not talking about this seller. But another seller told me they have their own warranty (and not the official one). Is it fine to buy from them?

  • ETA for the 2022 models?

    • This quarter for S7 MaxV

  • +2

    How is this a deal
I feel like this is the previous RRP. (this is a 2+ year old machine) and there are far better alternatives for less.
    Roidmi Eve Plus
    Viomi S9

As a bare minimum i'd get one with an auto-emptying station.

    • Covid, supply shortage, blah blah… As I said this is not the best price, but if you're looking for this model and you need it now this is the best price you can get.

      • Admittedly the Harvey Norman deal wasn't really a deal to start with.

  • +2

Wait……I bought this vacuum almost 3 years ago just under $600……what’s going on???

    • +2

I've read people saying they snagged this for ~$500 so I've been holding out for that price but nothing has come close yet and I've been watching a while!

    • What are your thoughts - is it still working and kicking goals for you? Interested in your feedback — I am thinking about this or the Viomi S9.

      • Best ever, still using it, no complaints and if it doesn’t break, I will use for another 5 years.

  • +2

I was lucky enough to buy the Roborock S7 PLUS (australian version) from the Roborock ebay store for this crazy price (AU $829.17) a few days ago. I suppose it was a price error but the seller kept the purchase anyway. Brilliant robot and the auto empty dock is really a plus.
The price error was corrected before I had the chance to publish the insane deal here.

How do these perform on carpet areas?

    • would love to know this too. been looking for one for carpet (home is 70% carpet) as i still use an old school plug in vacuum, would save a lot of time

    • Really good if the carpet is not shaggy or too thick. I have set it to run twice daily and haven't vacuumed manually ever since I got this.

  • Is there a list of aurhorised resellers for Roborock? Looking to buy an S7 but just confused from which all sellers they will honour the warranty.

  • Nice price, while I wait for d9 google assist support

  • Back in stock now

  • Do long hairs get tangled in this? Everyone in the household have long hairs, so just wondering how it will work with that

  • $633.60 using eBay plus 10% off code now. Still thinking I'll be hopeful and wait for Amazon prime day. Or just switch to a viomi v3 for 370.

I bought mine from a foreign store for around $550, I have no dislike against local suppliers it's a shame you aren't able to get a good deal on it. I would've been happy to pay extra for local businesses support (and ACL protection) but it was a huge difference. As I said not your fault though.

It's an older model but hasn't gone down in price since I bought it 2 years ago, which is a little crazy but it's the works we live in right now. Great vacuum, I bought it for my parents after they wanted to pay me to clean their house, I did for a bit I saved up the money and bought them this, it doesn't do everything but it vacuums everyday (I cleaned weekly). I recommend getting one years ago they were hesitant, but when I said here's my vacuum I'm gonna leave it here for a few weeks, their mind changed. If I took it back I think they'd be devastated. So I'll probably get myself one at some point

Had similar experience both at my own home, at the folks' place and subsequently a couple other family members as well.

Never really saw the need for a robotic vacuum, but was pretty much instantly hooked. The sight of that full dust bin whenever I empty it comes with a gratifying sense of having a cleaner house, even if most of the dust was barely visible in the first place. Other family members have all had the same experience. Every now and again, we'll still pull out the vacuum stick, but realistically, these things do 90% of the work for you and do a really good job of removing dust, hair and other household crud from your floors, carpets and rugs.

Big win for quality of life. Just a shame they've gone up so much in price and that more people haven't yet discovered them as a result…
