Amazon Packages Late, Any Idea What I Can Do?

Ordered some packages on the 31st march to an amazon locker to pickup later in the day today. Said it was coming by 8pm today but the amazon locker is located inside a newsagency and they have closed the store at 5pm. Any idea what i can do, as i needed these items to configure for a zoom call happening soon.

Unless you're friends with an employee who has a key, I think you're out of luck. Anyway it probably won't be delivered until tomorrow if the shop is closed. If you are very unlucky you might have to go pick it up from a depot.

    • Yeah they said wait until tomorrow some time. but they are unsure cause the drivers have their own itinerary

Update: Never received the code to pick them up. Amazon app said "sorry your items may be lost, you can request a refund through support" requested refund, said they would process it.

Few hours later email stating account closed for asking for a high refund when items were marked as delivered, however not marked as picked up. So screw Amazon.

Contact Amazon and let them know but you’re unlikely to get the items today. Would be worth using a publicly available 24/7 locker next time.

Yeah they said the items will get delivered some time tomorrow. I just picked the closest one near me and was unaware it was in a newsagency at the time.

Start working on an alternative for your zoom call, as you won't have your items

(Despite it usually being right there is no chance I would use Amazon's delivery estimates as a make or break time line for a product required for something happening not long after that time)

    • Yeah i guess i will have to setup zoom on my phone, as one of the items was a webcam for a group meeting.

An idea for you, join your local Buy Nothing group on Facebook and ask for a webcam. They are the sort of thing people have in their junk cupboard and are happy to rehome.

No guarantees you'll be admitted to the group or get your ask on time but may as well try!

      • Buy a webcam locally (if possible), and return the Amazon items.

One of the quirks of the Amazon delivery model is that their cheapest delivery is crazy quick if you're in a major city and you you're happy to have the item delivered to your home.

If you don't force Amazon to hand off your parcel to a third party (Auspost for a parcel locker, or newsagents, etc for their own collection scheme) their Flex drivers get your delivery direct from their bulk logistics centre to bring it straight to your door.

I ordered some "fulfilled by amazon" stuff an hour ago… I have every confidence it will do the Melbourne - Sydney hop overnight and be at my door by lunchtime tomorrow.

    • Yeh it’s pretty incredible really.

    Hi,
I noticed your profile says Adelaide. I wondered if you knew of: Taskpod
    https://www.westfield.com.au/marion/news/3hBvIgp0SGFIhsxFe1B… at Westfield Marion…
It is $1 per 15 mins.

    • Interesting, might check that out in near future but i like my setup at home. Hopefully can pickup my items in morning

I had this problem as well with a newsagent. It was also awkward walking into the store and going to the back where the lockers were and leaving right after without buying anything, all while the attendant was watching me. Switched to a 24 hour access Commonwealth Bank locker instead.

    • Don't see why it would be awkward if you walk out carrying amazon packages

    • Finally they delivered the items to the locker but I didn't receive a unlock code and can't send me one as it's system generated. I thought Amazon support were good

    Easy solution break in .

    • But it's not delivered there yet anyway cause the store closed before they could lol

This happened to me too. Chose a newsagent in a shopping mall. Message saying delivery during time they were closed. I notified Amazon who said driver would attempt the next day. Picked up the item the next day.

Yeah that's what they said to me so i suppose ill have to wait till tomorrow. Gave me $10 amazon credit for the delay though

      • At least you got a credit!

          • @HeyPapito: Easy solution angle grinder .

          • @HeyPapito: What a pain! I once bought something from ebay with pickup from a parcelpoint IT store. It arrived at the pickup location but then the guy shut his store down for 3 months due to the covid lockdown in NSW. Got it eventually but should have asked for delivery to home address instead!

@Transient: Damn that sucks. I think I'll have to start doing home delivery again cause going for a drive to an Amazon locker used to be good.

Now the store with the Amazon locker in it closes again in 2 hours and have to wait until tomorrow to hopefully recieve a code.

  • I've had this issue before - ordered packages to a business that closes at 5pm - put it in the delivery instructions (they have a comprehensive delivery instruction page that allows you to list opening days and hours) - Amazon Flex just seems to ignore opening hours/days. They love a 7pm delivery.
